apart from loads of money and high conversions what do people look for in a good affiliate program? I ask cause I am in the process of building our affiliate website and wanted input from you all.

You know all i really bother looking for is a niche that fits in with my traffic and that my payouts arrive when they are supposed to.
Regards,
Lee
I want an affiliate who answers e-mail. I want an affiliate who will make banners for me in a timely manner, or send me pics so I can do it myself.
All the payout and conversion stuff is just pie in the sky. No one can predict how a product will sell on my site with my traffic.

Great answers, keep em coming, so far we already do this with our members, e-mails are usually answered within an hour, often less.
what about an 800# for all affiliates to call ? and i dont just mean in the usa, we already have 800#'s in several countries that rout to us. would that help ?

I think an 800 number is a nightmare just waiting to happen.
You'll get yahoos calling you for every tom, dick and harry reason. It'll drive you to drink I'm sure.
And honestly, I don't really like talking on the phone to people I don't know, so even if you had one, I'd write you an e-mail. I don't think I'm that unusual.
Cheers

We have an 800# for us and it doesn't get much calling or anything. Other then people calling because their password isn't working or something like that.
I did a poll on what people wanted when I created out program.
Some of the things that people mentioned where:
Free content/Hosted galleries
more payout options (PPS and recurring)
Refferials for sending over other webmasters
Timely tech support
Having a company send out checks that they know they will actually recieve
and feeling like they aren't just some simple webmaster
Most of them will work their ass off if you make them feel like they are part of something, and not just leave them out to the wolfs. There was a lot more they mentioned to me, but you may just want to ask them....
You'll get more with a kind word and a 2 by 4 then you'll get with just a kind word.
