Do things like that send traffic at all? I've used them a few times, but never noticed anything amazing. Does it work as something to bring in traffic? or is it more a vaniety thing to see who has the biggest cock (traffic) of sorts? :specs:

i used to work for the FlyingCrocodile/Sextracker/Outster conglomerate. i stopped using their counter when it seemed like the numbers were off all the time.

it never brought me traffic, it's just a pretty toy and sometimes not that pretty

they recently cleaned out their database. apparently any counter that was being used on more than 1 domain got killed. thats why so many people had high numbers.

i also know some of the top counters stopped using outster, because there has been some speculation that outster installs spyware or tracking shit on peoples machines.

there is no real reason to have an outster counter on anything anyway.... like someone said, it doesnt really bring traffic, and its just there to leech off your own sites.

if you want a good invisible counter i highly recommend sexcounter.com ... its invisible, has decent stats, and doesnt install any crap on your surfers computer.

Something IS weird. I had one counter on a specific page for a long time, and now the stats suddenly just don't exist anymore.

I never really cared about getting traffic from them, and I always suspected their numbers were not accurate, but it was interesting to see key word stats they generated. My old hosts didn't give me any good stats, so Ouster was all I had.

I've completely stopped using counters. They've never really brought me a heck of a lot of traffic. My webhost provides me with detailed stats and access to my raw logs anyway, which I'm happy with.

Yeah Meat seems to have some issues with the guys at Flying Croc who, incidently, i beleive also operate Gator who, incidently {} are sueing another company at the moment for removing their adware from surfers computers LOL

Yup heard same thing, infact a friend of a friend of a friend said stay well clear of them until things are sorted. Saying that though using a counter is pointless. Theres something in it for them little or nothing for you.

I also noticed something very wrong with Outster this week. My account was not found when I attempted to login to check stats. When I performed a search for my sites they directed traffic to an unrelated affiliate coded gallery site. So I quickly responded by deleting their code from my index page. They really never generated much traffic to me anyway and I was getting sick and tired of their sextracker spyware crap anyway so it was time to oust Outster. :vanish:
