Has The Google Desktop Search Been A Flop?

Ive noticed over the last few days that Google has changed its search results page in quite a sneaky manner to draw more attention to its desktop search technology.

Is this a sign that perhaps end users arent utilizing this tool or is it a excellent traffic management lesson for us all?

    Your thoughts on this?

    Regards,

    Lee

I think it's been very successful. They're probably just trying to expand their reach and get as much market share as possible, getting as many people as they can introduced to and using it before everyone else releases theirs.

Yahoo has one coming out soon. Microsoft as well. Ask Jeeves even has a desktop search. And they're all coming out within these next couple of weeks.

So Google established their beach head, so to speak, and are moving inland to gain as much territory as possible before anyone else launches a counterattack.

I agree, the desktop search is still up-and-coming, check this thread by June next year and I think you will have your answer.

    cheers,
