    Does anyone know wines?

I don't know much about wines, but I know I love Port.

Today at Grocery Outlet I found bottles of Porto Moreira Colheita from 1952, 1964 and 1987. They were priced at $40, $30, and $8.99 repectively.

While I was looking at them, I spoke with a woman who drove over on recommendation of the local celebrity food critic on the radio.

I've never spent more than $15 for a bottle of wine, so this is a big deal for me! I'm saving it for Xmas Eve, and I'll report back.

I googled the name and came up with nothing. Anyone know where I could find a rating or review?

    Mark,

You might want to check out: PortLovers.com , they are very serious about their ports over there and they have forums so you can request more info if they don't have any posted.

I believe 'Colheita' is a specific kind of port wine, produced from garpes harvested during a single year and aged a minimum of 7 years in oak barrels. I also am pretty sure 'Moreiras' are from Portugal.

    Cheers!

    Mark,

Go to a fancy smancy wine store have them direct you to some expensive port, as they are walking away proceed to tear the labels off the bottles and attached them to some 4.99$ specials from your grocier. Your guests will never know and think of all the $$$$ you will save !

Mark, Have a wonderful Holiday Season and we will have to have some drinks in Vegas!

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they have the specific brand that Mark bought.

Mark, after you've had a chance to sample this port, let us know what you think of it. I'm always looking for new wines and ports to sample and add to our mini collection.

Yes, I know wines...I live with an Italian

I here, wha, wha, wah, everyday! That's a "true Italian wine" LOL

But, seriously folks, we buy the cheapest wine we can find and it's always the best (look for red wine no newer than 2000 and make sure it's Itailan)

Do NOT spend over $9.00 a bottle...and make sure it was made in Italy (or else, it's made with a "cool-aid" substance"...you'll see the residue at the bottom of the glass....This info comes from "Sambo" ("My dad in-law" from Italy) He thinks all wine bought here and made here is made from a cool-aid mixture!!!

Other than that, I know nothing about wine...

In my youth I used to only drink wine cause I "thought" I wouldn't get as drunk......well, was I wrong.

    Happy Holidays and play safe!

    Lenny
