Canon vs. Sony

We are buying new camera equipment, thought i should drop the question, which is better the 3CCD sony or canon video cams?

I'm thinking canon, I'm pretty impressed by their digital still equipment so I figure the same applies to their video gear.

BUT what about Sony? Is it better or worse or no different?

i have owned & used a GL2 from canon, and it was incredible. however, ive also used the sony vx2000 and heard that it was superior, especially for going to dvd. the vx2100 is the latest model, and i hear the quality continues.

id love to hear from someone else who's used both extensively...

I shoot with Sony VX2000 and it is damn great for videos if u ask me,but i hear that newest model is VX 2200,haven't check yet

I have never used a Sony but have heard good things about it. We use Canon GL 2's for video and are very happy with it both for web and dvd use. We also use Canon's for still images.
