    Taking Thumbnails Of Movies?

I know this is possible to do but wanted to know which application to use..

I have a bunch of movies in both .wmv and .mpg format at the moemnt, what im looking to do is create a thumbnail from each of the movies however, rather than creating a thumbnail from the opening frame of the clip im wanting the clip to 'play' for around 15 seconds before the snapshot is taken.

Anyone know a good software application that will do this?

    Regards,

    Lee

you can do it a few ways.

The easiest, that you can do without editing software,is to open the file, letit play to where you want it, and then take a screen shot, and edit that down.

Where is Jigg when you need him? He always knows some great free application that does amazing stuff.

I use VirtualDub. You load the movie and you can slide to any frame for the perfect capture. The only problem... it doesn't work with .wmv's

use snatchit - i found it on google at http://www.theedgeofforever.com/

my partner used to painstakingly do the vidcaps one at a time. snatchit allows you to grab the thumbs in around two minutes total for a thumb ever couple seconds or however long you set it for. you can throw out the bad thumbs or just keep 'em all.

One more that's easy to use for taking a lot of screen caps pretty quickly:

    http://www.videocharge.com/

It costs a few bucks, but there is a free trial I believe.

    yeah what John said

or if you want to get RealAlternative

it uses Windows Media Player classic which you can use to play the file, pause it and save the image:

And this thing can read I think all file formats.

when you are doing captures of hours and hours of video, best not to have to stop every second... it's a lot easier to let a program pull a vidcap every second if you need one every second.
