Could a gay surfer messageboard be profitable?

I have a tgp and have a link to a messageboard, and it gets a LOT of pageviews, but few posts.
I even made it so that people can post as guests to encourage people to start talking.
So threads will have like 400 pageviews, and 2 responses.

My hope is that, someday, the board will get busy and then I can put my own ads up and make some extra money that way.

But its not putting any money in my pocket now, and its taking money away because instead of linking to it, I could be linking to another sponsor, so its a traffic leak.

And they all just trade emails, and ask about other free poirn sites .
And Plus other webmasters pop on and spam their sites on it.

So do you think something like that could be profitable or should I drop it?

However, it would seem that the reason the forum isnt profitable for you right now is that your competitors are spamming it and not you

We have one over on CumSoda and, whilst im the first to admit it looks dead at first glance, the posts on there, although they have all been made by me get a lot of 'views' which in turn, gets me a lot of clicks on galleries and ultimately to my sponsors.

The secret is making sure that if you want your visitors to participate, that you ask open ended questions so they simply cant answer yes or no, does that make sense?

Yeah it does, thanks for the advice. Yours gets a lot of page views.
Here my board http://www.m4mboard.com (I hope its ok to post it here since its a surfer board and not a webmaster board, otherside feel free to delete the link).
Its pretty crappy but if it has the potential to be profitable then I'd invest in better software for it.

Do you think I should change it over to just promote the site?

oh, and I also dont allow "http" to be posted, because I as getting so many spams from webmasters.
do you know how I can allow that to be posted but not from webmasters?

It looks like a great start for a hot surfer board. There really isn't much you can do for the spam, unless you just don't allow people to post links, or mannually approve all the posts before their viewable on the main area of the board.

I would also add a banner rotation script, pick a few new sponsors and see if couldn't increase the conversions from the traffic.

sure, there are a few large companies/sites that got their start running message boards where sufers could hotlink and post stolen images & such. its a huge traffic draw, and once u have that established, u can build on it.
