Just pulled my "amateur" photos & sites...ughhh.

I finally made the decision to pull all my "amateur" photos. That meant taking down over 100 feeder sites and a good part of my main site. It sucks to have to do this because most of them were avs sites with companies that I really like and enjoy working with and now I feel bad taking so many down.

I hope it's worth it. I do intend to build more feeder sites and start a more aggressive marketing plan in the near future so all is not lost. I don't mind buying model sets but for me the "amateurs" were the reason I started doing this in the first place.

What made you decide to take down your links?

There's no way I can comply with the 2257 laws with these photos. The guys all look over 18, I just can't prove it because I don't have the proper paperwork. I've been reading that the government will likely try to prosecute, not on obscenity laws, but on 2257 compliance. The chances of my site(s) being targeted are one in a million but no one really knows who is on the attorny general's hit list (if there is one?).

At least now, I don't have to worry about that. I had planned to become a primary producer but it's so much easier for me to stay a secondary producer. My business resides in New Mexico, which is in the 10th Federal District. All I'm required to do is post the name and address of the custodian of records on the front of my site(s) which I'm working on right now.

    Greetings:

    Let me summarize this:

He used stolen content, probably most of which was photos of people that had no idea they were even on a porn site to begin with.

I'm glad to see you're starting to mend your ways.

I used photos that guys submitted so they could get free access to Huskyhunks.com. These images accumulated quickly over the last 6 years. This amounted to way over 4,000 images but I only used the best 2,000 images because alot of it was not great quality. I mixed content from pixmasters, ounique, and web-legal, and the submitted photos to make the sites.

Maybe next time you will use better judgement when accusing someone else of stealing.

maybe next time you won't be so quick to judge and look like an idiot in the process.
Well, I'm not going to get into a flame war over this. You may think me the idiot, but you were the one running porn sites in violation of federal law, not me.

And exactly how many of those photos do you honestly believe were of the people that submitted them to you?

When you require people to send in photos of "themselves" for free access, what exactly do you think they're sending you?

You're being pretty naive if you think those were all self pics, assuming any of them were.

I'm not naive. I've been around the block since Badpuppy was a baby, so that's 1995. In my area of the net, bear, cubs, and chubs, it's a tight group of people. We know each other. I've been friends with alot of these guys for many years now.

I used the photos of guys that I knew where legit and wanted to be seen. Maybe you have a totally different experience on the net. You probably don't know a thing about the models you work with (which may or my not be a good thing). My experiece is probably not typical but I still enjoy communicating with hundreds of guys that I've met through my site.

JustMe... chill a bit. Real amateur sites have been around since the birth of the internet. And an experienced webmaster can tell the difference between stolen content and user submitted pics 99% of the time. Sure, the 1% can cause a webmaster MUCH grief. Especially since HuskyHunks works in a pretty obscure niche, he probably has every single licensed photoset available.

I personally LOVE real amateur sites... they are the only sites I surf for pleasure anymore. I hate to see them go offline because of fear of the big bad government. What will happen to community/hookup sites (gay.com, justusboys.com, etc) and escort sites if the 2257 laws are enforced?

Btw, love the redesign HH! Sorry to see the user-submitted stuff go, but the new site looks great.

    Hi Xstr8guy,

Thanks for the compliment on the redesign of Huskyhunks.com. I tried to make it look amateurish, I'm not the greatest designer, so that wasn't too hard to do

The niche I work with is pretty much just myself doing it but the type of guys on the site are pretty much the only guys I get off too. Being around this long, you tend to become an expert on content and who designs what. It just happens over time.

I hate like hell to take down the amateurs and you make a great point in asking, what happens if we all have to become compliant. That would be huge. It would shake up the industry. As far as I know, know one has ever been prosecuted under 2257. I don't really visit the net much for pleasure. With the exception of a couple of sites, I just don't get into 99.99% of what's out there.

Its good to see you taking your business in a new direction even if it is going to be hard for the next few months im sure youll benefit from these changes in the long run

Hopefully we'll find out exactly what, if anything is happening with the 2257 laws sometime soon LOL

    Regards,

    Lee
