If anyone is looking for me -- my system crashed from an assault from malware and trojans that keep reinstalling themselves. If you have work due ... I'll get to it just as soon as I can get back onto my own computer and access my content/programs.

Yea ... but that was the motherboard failing ... this is a malicious attack I picked up from a gaming site no less! All these months of surfing porn and never a whimper of anything THIS nasty! I finally managed to get in long enough to shut down most of the start up files ... updated the virus program and upgraded my firewall. Read up on turning OFF the Restore while running the spybot and adaware programs. I've deleted at least 6 forced installs of toolbars ... still can't find where 2 are living. Cleared all the temp files several times... at least I was able to tag on a clean drive and start moving over my work files ... once I get all of that moved, I'll just wipe the drive and resetup my operating system and programs ... it's just too crazy trying to clear out stuff I know is living deep in the registry at this point. It's hogging resources so bad it's taking up to 5 minutes to just boot the system now. Sigh. :boo:Originally Posted by Lee
Geeze, I know that sucks big time!
Still never got ours back up. I did take your advice and checked the ram sticks...I now feel that mine too was/is the mother board. Though I know nothing about this shit. I figure I picked up some nasty shit somewhere along the net.
Glad you do know the stuff though!
I know you're able to get yours fixed soonly....you're a wiz :teach:
that'll teach you to not be off goofing off on GAME websites....Originally Posted by Bec

Hey Bc...hit me up when you get back!
soon, soon we hope :-)
No hurry, take your time and get it back together. I just wanna pick a master pc brain.
ya know ever since I have installed xpsp2 and norton I have been able to block every auto install. Plus I have been running the new MS anti-spyware utility which is surprisingly stable and good quality - click here to get it.
cheers,
Luke
Wow that sucks Bec, been there done that countless times. Good luck with everything.

sorry to hear you are going through this did you have spysweeper running? it's kept any programs from installing here since i got it...
I had spybot and adaware and mcaffe antivirus installed ... the antivirus thingy kept popping every 5 seconds and even though it was running it kept wanting to run again and again for each new infected file it found when I'd boot up. Got to where the system would try to boot, show me my desktop and then reboot, and it kept saying my second drive was invalid ... which had me in a total panic since that's where all my work files lived! There was a popup that kept happening that I finally got a clue that it was actually a trigger to reinstall the quarantined files, and not a normal "error" box ... sneaky little bastards.
Finally got the desktop popup malware to slow down by upgrading my firewall software and turning off nearly everything but systray in the msconfig ... long enough to access and move work files ... gawd it takes forever to move 40 plus gigs of shit to a new drive! I was careful to not take anything out of Windows or Programs ... so I'm busily fetching the newest downloads of the stuff I use all the time like winzip, mozilla's firefox, etc. to setup a new drive for the operating system and my programs. What a pain in the ass week this has been!
No clue what that Spysweeper is Patti ... and I'll definately look into the one you suggested too Luke, thanks!
lee turned me onto spysweeper (these are not affiliate links, just links within their site)

I hate sites that do that!
Good luck, if I can help let me know, you are awesome!
