    Firefox

How many of you guys use it? Does it work well for you? I know it's great for security reasons but it seems to run really slow for me. Is it just me, or does anyone else have this problem?

I don't know what the big deal is about these Mozilla browsers. They are way slower than IE and they screw up my sites all of the time

    I love Mozilla.

A lot more secure and NO popups! I was able to speed it up by changing the settings a bit. Its about 2 times faster than IE by doing so.

It helps me be sure my sites are browser friendly. If my designs and programs work in Mozilla. I know they work in Netscape, Opera, and IE for sure.

I love FireFox. Its way better then IE. Allows me to open 1 window and look at tons of sites. FYI, I was reading somewhere that they have figured out a way to use pop ups in FireFox now.
You'll get more with a kind word and a 2 by 4 then you'll get with just a kind word.

I just had a pop-up from Firefox. Totally boggled my mind. But ya know, if it even cuts down on a significant amount of pop-ups, I'll be happy.

Chuck, any chance you'd help me with my settings? You can ICQ me 329037721 if ya can.

I love Firefox, too. Although it does have it's challenges. As xstr8guy pointed out, sites seem to fall apart in Firefox. But that's not Firefox's problem, the main problem is that, in their quest to take over the browser market, Microsoft's IE allowed for really sloppy HTML. If you didn't close a tag, IE would assume you wanted it closed. This pretty much assured that everything looked great in IE while Netscape Navigator seems to be a shoddy product not displaying websites properly.

So everyone jumped ship and moved over to IE. Now, a whole bunch of years later, we find that a lot of our sites are not looking so good when displayed in a strict W3C browser like Firefox.

Well Firefox is a really good browser, and I happily suggest everyone to use it. Come be... let's be counterculture.

However, I must also say that it has given me some recent major headaches. Since it is 100% HTML compliant, the current Firefox shows me visually that for over a year I have misused the code of a style sheet - and so a number of my pages switch into unintended fonts if someone looks at them in Firefox. IE doesn't care.

Serves me right for being sloppy, I suppose. Actually lately I have used the Firefox View Source option to check over the code on many pages, and it is very handy.

    Only browser I use.

And yes there are pop-ups now that Mozilla doesn't block anymore due to new popup codes but that would probably be remedied in the near future.

Spyware is also hard to install on Firefox because you can set the browser to accept XPI files from only certain sites, blocking the rest.

Once loaded it's pretty fast actually, haven't experienced any slowness.

IE has an artificial "faster" feel to it because it loads in the background as part of explorer.exe when your computer boots. Which is something that can be duplicated with Mozilla

And sites looked screwy in FF because it's 100% standarts compliant, so if you have bad code it won't help you make it pretty like IE would do

I have switched every PC I have to Firefox. With IE, I used AD Aware every day and cleaned 30 to 50 items. With Firefox, my Ad Aware works about as much as Pres Bush and when I do use Ad Aware I find only 6 to 10 items.
I have noticed it is a bit slower than IE, and have changed some settings but still seems a bit slower. I would love to hear how to speed Firefox up a bit more--anyone please post those fixes here?

No popups for me either, but I have noticed that I see errors in code--even on big sites like Yahoo with Firefox that I wouldnt have seen with IE.

I've been using Mozilla since Mozilla 0.6 (long before Firefox). I started using Firefox around the 0.8 release and it's the only browser I use now. I love the tabbed browsing, integrated search-within-page, popup blocking, and a lot of the other features.

Firefox displays about 95% of the pages I view correctly. People get annoyed and say that Firefox "screws up" some pages but in fact it's Microsoft's non-compliant code that ONLY it's browser interprets that is the problem; if Microsoft wasnt' so interested in squashing everyone else and played fairly, there'd be no compatibility issues at all. The good news is it seems that many sites that were once only Microsoft compatible have since been rewritten to be 100% HTML compatible, and as Firefox continues to chip away at IE's lead, I think that trend will continue.

Siince I discovered it some year ago I rarely ever use IE (Except for playing on Zone....

It is the best thing in computers since ... well... since porn ofcourse

I have popup blocker on, so I never see any annoying popups, no dialers or similiar kind of shit... google search box is always ready, windows open in same tab....

Oh yes, it does make your own sites look a bit sloppy thoe.... hmmm I wonder whose fault it is

:coffee: I love it! I use the hell out of the tabbed browsing feature as well as forecast fox and the alexa & google page rank extensions.

I love firefox! The browser itself is just better. I am taking classes for xhtml and I guess I havnt learned any bad habits, but my teacher has told us about IE "fixing" bad code. I personaly havnt noticed any problems viewing things in FF, but then again I am usually forced to validate my sites for school through the W3 validater. The only time I even open IE is to view sites, other than that I wouldnt touch it. Design for the masses!

I love Firefox. The extensions which you can download and install provide it with a lot of functionality that makes it easier to use.

The only problem I've had is that I designed my sites using it. Then when I went to IE to check them everything was off. I had been trying to do most things using DIVS rather than TABLES and the two just didn't display things the same. I've since gone through and fixed things so they show up the same in both browsers.

I've been watching my stats and probably 90% of my visitors use IE.
