Got The Traffic, now what? Please help!

Hello everyone, I hope your week is going well and that there may be someone out there who can give me some honest, good-natured advice. My name is Jacob Slader, I am porn star and work with Rascal, Titan, Falcon, All World’s, and Red Devil. I have just launched my website which is so far free and contains very little adult content because I intend to add a members' section soon. Well, soon has come more quickly than I have had time to prepare. My site is on average, receiving between 800-1200 visits, not hits, a day and this is without any advertising. I am linked on three sites that I know of and they are all blogs. So, I think I could be taking advantage of this situation and start making some money. I know very little about affiliate programs and am up for considering or negotiating with anyone. I am, however, more interested in creating a members' area from which I will receive most of the sign up costs. I have been considering Badpuppy but as I look through the list of the sites available on their network, I am beginning to question whether I want my site to be associated with such sites. I am trying to do something different with my website. I wish to truly give people their money's worth when visiting my site and have no interest in trapping people with mazes of links, overcharging, etc...Nor do I wish to include any content which is not my own or which I have not personally selected. So what am I offering? If you visit http://www.jacobslader.com now you will find a nifty flash website I have designed. It belies my web designing skill as it looks much more impressive than they really are. I know flash and am damn good with Photoshop but when it comes to HTML or any other web script- forget about it, except of course the basics. This site is for my fans and those interested in the porn industry from the point of view of an insider (me). Therefore, I'd like most of the content to be of me alone or with others. I want to keep a free gallery, add a member's gallery which I can update monthly. I will be producing 20 minute video scenes twice a month which members can stream and or download, but which expire after a certain period, I have widely read blog in which I ponder the syntax and semantics of porn and I would most like to offer weekly web cam chat for members who can take me 1-on-1 for additional fees. I don't know how to do any of this!!!! So Badpuppy looks more and more appealing. I am willing to go in on this with someone who knows more as long as the arrangement is fair and benefits both parties equal to their contribution. Please help. Well... you've got yourself a bit of a problem there, but this can easily be overcome...

Since you are one hot hunk (sorry about this), I don't believe it will be much of a problem for you to sell ... well whatever you intend to sell there...

Personally your main problem is how to create a full working paysite where you can pamper your members with everything about you...

I really don't see much of a problem there...

1. Check some of the design companies, you could get some great offers from them, basically with a bit of a tour page, and member section you can easily do under $400 for their services...

2. I don't get the whole thing with the streaming videos that expire after a certain period.. I mean... if someone wants to download your video they could easily play it and at the same time use a convenient software that records the whole video. Your video might expire, but the one he made won't.

3. If you intend to have "live streams", just get a webmcam and get online with your members for 2 horus a day, I think that would keep them on... ofcouse, you could consider creating a extra VIP lounge where your members could "really" get horny with you for a charge of let's say $10 per minute? Try contacting someone like Chi Chi, I heard they're going to do sort of Flirt4free but only with pornstars...


If you intend to produce 2 videos per month, have live chat with your members, add lots of your pics and/or from others and have that extra vip lounge for plus members, plus some great leased content by your choice, I don't see why you need to go to Badpuppy?... Just take some 2 months of time, do a bit of research and ask the right people... I'm sure here's lots of those that would help you even without benefits... (maybe?)

Badpuppy's certainly a good outfit. I know many people who have sites there and do well.

I'm not certain about yours though. While there's nothing wrong per se with what you want to do, the basic problem I see with your project is this: If I arrive at your site and I'm not interested in you, I'm finished, I move on. Let's face it, no porn star is everyone's cup of tea. So, by narrowing your focus to one thing (you) you're limiting your saleability.

This is where an outfit like Badpuppy might be able to help you because you can sell the surfer: You can access to my site and all of these others.

Or, maybe you can enlarge your own site to include other things. First of all, look at Chris Steele's he includes all kinds of stuff. You'll want to make your site the premiere place for people to go to find out everything there is about you. Offer public chats, sell your underwear, create wallpaper, whatever ... you have a fan base that loves you, get every dime you can from them and give them lots of reasons to keep coming back.

Maybe to enlarge the appeal of your site you could have an "other guys that turn me on" section or something that gives people more stuff to look at. Again, I'm not trying to be disparaging of you or insulting towards you, it's simply that single porn star sites have a limited appeal.

Finally, if you're going to do this, be consistent. There's nothing worse than reading a porn star's blog and last entry is from three months ago.

Talk to Lisa at Badpuppy, if you haven't already, I'm sure she'll be along shortly, but I really think BP is one of your best bets to make this work.

Well don't focus on Badpuupy. There is an affiliate program for just about any commerical website. Think about what you like, and join its program. Try one, and the then switch around if it doesn't work. Ultimately for me, I promote on my websites things that I happen to like. (otherwise I'd just be simply working for someone else).

You could obviously sell the movies you appear in for starters. Then the studios all have programs.

Thank you all for your advice and I will definitely give Badpuppy more consideration. Thank you, desslock for the great review and Sergio was a fucking trooper. It was so hot in that house and I plowed him for hours- He just kept wanting it harder and more intensely=- he is the rare kind of person you mmet in porn who "challenges" you skills as a top, and I'm always up for that challenge!
And Dzinerbear, I agree with you on most of your points though I may not be in this so much just for the money and perhaps I simply have no idea what the earning potential is, but if I include other content, it would definitely have to be something like "Guys I love to fuck or watch fuck". I just want to control the content and quality. I am not looking to milk the members of my site and would rather have a stable set of renewing members who enjoy my site than many more who keep the membership for a month then cancel. Maybe I am really idealistic and naive;probably so.
Damlimil, the downloadable video thing is something I like about a straight porn website I "frequent" - nachoskillerpussy.com You can choose to watch it streaming or download. I like that! NOw, I like it because I can burn it and watch it on my DVD, etc, and I have no intentions of selling it or making money off of it. I guess I assume most of the world is like me, when in fact they're not! So it will probably have to be secure, as you say.

Badpuppy seems to have become THE place for pornstars to set up shop. And I think that is a good trend for Badpuppy, pornstars, other bp webmasters and the surfers/members.

Solo pornstar sites generally don't have enough content to demand a high membership price. The revshare that Badpuppy offers is probably higher than the price that any single pornstar could charge. So it's a good deal for everyone.

Why not keep jacobs lader as your fan site, and build a paysite on a different domain name, either one that you secure a billing processor for or if you want to stay with the "just you" content, then BadPuppy may give you the "extras" needed to convert the sale. This way you can use jacobs lader to "upsell" the paysite version. The blog is ideal for the SE's for the fan site. Perhaps inside a paysite you'd want to switch to the PHPBB message board or find a way to mirror the blog.
