It's a sad day when the shikse's yiddish is more fluent that a 5 Town boytchik's.

The proper answer to shalom is to reply: Aleyken sholem. I know I'm not yiddisher kop when it comes to Jews, but even a goyem like me can be a mayven, and look it up.

    Zay gezunt my bubele!

Madame...even without your bustier, you take my breathe away.

PonyBoy, props to you amd "A for effort".

Starting at sunset on Friday and until sundown on Saturday,
"Shabbat Shalom" or "Good Shabbas" are two of the proper greetings.

Harlan, who is really Harlan (what can I say other then it was the '60's and my parents had obviously had a sence of humor when it came time to going though the baby name book) was not switched at birth and remains the grandson of Glatt Kosher Butcher!

    Welcome Optic!!

Growing up my grandparents use to speak yiddish so I did not understand what they were saying.

My best friends mom is head of the yiddish department at a jewish college in the area. One of these days I will take one of her classes.

I am really surprised with such attention to my person. My grandparents were from Gomel, Belarus, but I speak nor Hebrew, nor Yiddish. I have some friends from Habad and sometimes assist in Cabalat Shabbats. But it very pleasnt to me to fing so "common souls" here.

    Zay gezunt!
