Would You Promote A Product That You Know Doesn't Work?

    Greetings All:

Well, would you be an affiliate for a product that you KNOW doesn't work, and that you KNOW your surfers will be ripped off by if you actually manage to convince them to buy it?

Oh, by the way, I almost forgot to say welcome to MensNiche, the newest sponsor to GWW.

As someone who has been ripped off many times, (always seem to fall for the "fly by night" crap.) I wouldn't want to have anything affiliated with my site that I knew did not work. It may just be me, but I think that if someone purchased something via a link from my site and that product didn't work that the person would associate that product back to me. It just seems like a good way to lose the loyalty of your customer.

Good, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one on here that's not willing to do or sell anything to make a buck....

Definitely not because now you have the reputation and even though you might be promoting something else that does work, why would they buy it from you?

sincerely ~ "warning!: i am an adult webmaster , i exploit other people's bodies for profit , ocassionaly some side effects may occur especially when the topic of aides/barebacking when i feel i need to become "hollier than thou art!" to appease some idealistic idea in my mind that i am not doing anything wrong! , i may not be mixed with others as certain volatile chemical reactions may occur resulting in injury or death! , in case of emergency consult a web technician! :goof:

Selling something that does not do what you advertise it to do is against the law in Australia. So that said:

    1. I don't break the law .... ever

    2. I have business ethics and therefore don't sell products that don't work.

    Cheers,

    Allan

Interesting.. You know in all honesty, as long as it was legal to do so, yes i would.

Im here to market to people and make money from that marketing, in fact, we have ALL promoted products / services that over promised and under-delivered in the past.

Most paysite members areas are pure shit, if they werent surfers would retain for years on end instead of just months.

If a surfer is looking for a specific product, site or service, its my job as a webmaster to produce a site where they can buy that product, site or service from instead of sending them to one of my competitors sites.

Every chance at a sale I miss, makes my competition stronger and ultimately gives them an opportunity to put my company out of business.

Lets not forget, we are in the sales and marketing business NOT the entertainment business

    Regards,

    Lee

Ok ok, I'll fess up to buying a 3 month supply of Enzyte. Lol, I had $250 burning a hole in my pocket at the time. What was I suppose to do?

And you know what? It actually worked! Alright, my dick didn't get any bigger but it made my boner rock hard and I was horny all of the time. Maybe there was some placebo effect but there are some widely accepted herbal ingredients in those pills. Was it worth $250? Probably not... I didn't buy it again.

i guess that's the flip side of selling something , if it does work at what cost are the "side-effects"?
i have these "hard-on" ( Blue ) pills that make you hard as a rock ( and painfully expand your organ to it's limits! ) and lasts alittle over 2-hours ( not even an ice-cube compress can make that sucker go down! ) but give you a "migrain-headache" afterwards that lasts a couple of hours! ( i've actually tried a couple! )
it works though! , but i'm not comfortable selling it to someone else!

    sincerely ~ jim

Jim, try Cialis sometime. I don't get any headaches at all from them. Viagra plugged up my nose and gave me dull headaches. Cialis seems to have a more relaxed effect unlike Viagra's sharp effect.

I get your point Lee. Kind of the "common carrier" approach that hosting companies take...

I am not about making money at all costs. I try to operate my site under a certain set of ethics and principles.

I don't lie to visitors to my site.

I don't mislead them. I don't lure them with "free" and give them nothing.

If someone hates my site and wants a refund, I'd rather just give it to them. I don't need their negative energy circling around me.

I try to promote quality sites who practice business principles that I'm comfortable with.

I don't want to sell prescriptions because I'm not authorized to do so. And I don't want to be liable because some guy bought Viagra off my site and had a heart attack while snorting poppers.

I don't want to get into gambling.

I haven't gotten into herbal products because I don't know if they do what they claim to and I wouldn't want to see anyone hurt as a result of something they bought off my site.

I do have a couple of banners on my site promoting this Stud Trainer thing. I don't think it works, but I don't think anyone is going to hurt themselves using it, so that's why I put tried it. And in fact now that I'm writing this, I think I'll just probably pull the thing off my site.

I don't feel good promoting anything if it falls into the "if it sounds too good to be true" category.

I don't agree with Lee that if someone is looking for a product we should give it to them. But that's the beautiful of the society in which we live, he can do so if he wants and I can choose not to.

And on a totally off-topic, but kind of similar, I don't think prescription drug manufacturers should be allowed to advertise their products on television. It leads to a culture of people diagnosing their own perceived or real conditions. If you have a health concern, you should see your doctor, and discuss whatever options are available. The proliferation of pharmaceutical commericals is creating an even greater culture of non-responsibility: Hey, I can take this pill and everything will be great (except I'll have to live with anal leakage).
