holy shit - new california obscenity bill

    http://xbiz.com/news_piece.php?id=8563
the parts i really didn't care for included:

"Further, the bill eliminates the need for the prosecution or defense to provide expert testimony in obscenity cases. "

but it doesn't really define obscenity - it still uses the miller test.

what a waste of our tax money!

More proof of my politically incorrect belief that the war on child pornography is mostly an avenue for anti-porn activists to harrass and shut down the adult business.

Not that kiddy porn isn't bad but if you're truly concerned about children, how about focusing on things that really make a difference, like universal health care and better funding for education?

As always, I feel much better now. Go about your business, citizen.

Andy, vent all you want. I'm right there with you. We can show people killing each other on TV, in fictional shows or the real live war that we started, but people getting it on is a no-no.

I guess the government feels it's okay to show children violence because they expect them to grow up thinking it's okay to kill people who are different than they are so when they get shipped off to war it won't be such a culture shock. :hmmph:

    Greetings:

allows for the admission to court of appeals based on “customary limits of candor in the description or representation of nudity, sex
I will never, for the life of me, understand why conservatives are so afraid of sex. If they want to be uncomfortable with the topic, and ashamed of it, and embarassed, then that's their choice. I just wish that they'd leave the more mature, secure individuals in our society the hell alone.

if these politicians were even slightly concerned about children's well-being, they should try making sure the kids in california all have food and a roof over their heads - and that they're not being abused. in the poorer parts of town, we have kids living with single mothers in cars with no dinners. and if the authorities would go to toys are us on busy days, they'd see plenty of child abuse they could prevent.

but seems like we have twisted people who think the most important thing is keeping a toon over the age of 18 - or getting re-elected.
