Silly question, but still...

do you see anything changing in gay porn because of the fact that more and more chinese have access to internet and by the year 2007 there will be more people using internet in China than in U.S.?

Anybody knows ... are they into Asian men? Ebony? European?

Are you preparing anything in future for chinese market?

Any toughts on this ?

I know everyone thinks China is a goldmine, but I don't think it is. It's a completely different culture and way of looking at things. I work with a Chinese guy and I discovered that he had lifted a paragraph of text about a model from another site. He changed their "brown eyes" to "blue eyes" and their "blonde hair" to "brown hair" and figured he had changed it enough to make it his own. When I tried explaining that it was still stealing and violating someone's copyright, he was shocked, "We did this all the time at the Chinese newspaper where I worked. We didn't have time to write everything new."

So, brace yourselves.

It's the same mentality all over this part of the world. Stereotypes suck, and all people are not the same, but a persons culture is a very powerfull thing.

The mainland China market will be interesting once VISA makes inroads in marketing credit card use there. It will take time. Many in Germany still prefer using debit cards (EC-Karte). In the meantime I agree that China remains a major source for hotlinking.

I do think it would be wise to begin thinking more of the asian market in general. I know over the years I have generated sales in HongKong, Japan, Thailand and Singapore.

I was reading recently someone traveled to china and he couldn't get to Google, Yahoo or any other news site.

ANd when trying to download his emails, it cut him half way thru

Yep - it's illegal. It's also a stated "undesirable component" of the internet that the authorities are busting their balls to keep at bay. Considering China's human rights history and law enforcement methods the penalties are likely to far exceed the pleasures that we bring...

It is illegal to view, sell, or market porn in mainland china. I think the only market open is Hong Kong, because of all the western companies doing business there.

i just got back from the mainland doing some shooting and I was surprized what I could get access to when I went to the internet cafe (and what I could not).

The news stuff was funny; could get CBS but not BBC. But when it came to porn, there was virtually nothing I tried to access that I could not get to come up. I was able to post on here, check my sites, look at some others I was spying on (hehehehe).

I do agree that there is a lot of garbage traffic that comes from over here, but I get lots of signups out of it and the members tend to stay a long time. It does take a lot of server security, and of course preventing hotlinking, but that is true with the rest of the world too.

And I am personally pretty excited about an additional billion people to market too. the percentages can be pretty low there and still make a bundle. And I echo what you said Lee, ebony is huge over here, especially in Japan.

Well, it seems pretty hard to develop business with mainland china. It could work until the site would be censored.
I have a free site that I translated into chinese 2 years ago and I received trafic from chinese search engines... but it converted very bad.
I tried to access to it last year while visiting Beijing... and I couldn't.

I also tried a to develop a chinese version of a paying site... and didn't get lot from it, except a lot of messages from chinese asking for cute boys to meet or stupid stuffs like that... but at least it's ready for the time china will wake up

Moreover, Chinese seems to have differents habits, many don't look for hard porn, but rather for erotic stories or cute men pictures, and very few are ready to spend money, a lot search only for free content.
