I'm not going. I'm staying right here in gloomy, rainy San Diego. Drugs aren't my thing. Neither is dancing.

I dropped acid once. That was the extent of my hard drug use. Drugs and me don't get along. Even pot makes me stupid and boring, I'd rather have a vodka and redbull and be the life of the party.

At least back in the "olden days" in SF - the Haight (god forbid my parents really hated all that shit) - things like sunshine and purple haze and strawberry fields were so named because of the color of the tabs of acid...

"Tina" is short for "Christina" which is a riff off of "Crystal" as in "Crystal Meth".

"Tina" was used as a code word for crystal meth so people could talk about it in private while in public.

Example:

Person 1 - "Hey, let's go to this party!"
Person 2 - "Is Tina going to be there?"
Person 1 - "I hear she's gonan stop by."

That means that theres going to be crystal meth at the party.

So it's just a code word that worked it's way into our vernacular.

I am not a hypocrite, so I have no issues with drugs or alcohol (been there).
I'll leave hypocrisy to the old guys bitching about others, whom are merely doing what they did, when they were young.

So what about all of those other acronyms like Mary, and Gina and the rest of the alphabet. I hear those all the time at the clubs but I have no idea what they mean.

I remember when they used to call pot Mary Jane. LOL! I smoked pot in college and did acid once, and it wasn't any major moral standing that kept me from doing more, I just didn't like the way that they made me feel. But one movie that will really show you what long term drug use will do to you is Ciao Manhattan. The movie is based on the life of Edie Sedgwick, starring her playing herself. Half the movie was made in the late 60's and was supposed to be an underground film but was never finished, so in the eaerly 70's they filmed new footage with Edie with the idea of using the old footage as flashbacks about her life. The really sad thing is that she was too fucked up in real life to realize the movie was about her. She stumbles and falls all through the movie and barely gets her lines out, and you think she's a great actress but she isn't, she's just really messed up from the years of heavy drug use and drinking. So it's a combination of reinactment and documentary. It's really tragic.
