that's only the tip of the iceberg boys.... when I was designing for the main stream industry, I was always shocked to find out that so and so owned this and that and operated such and such

the deal is this, I was always told by marketing experts that consumers like to have "choice" as they put it.... this allows the consumer to think that they play a roll in making intelligent decisions before they shop

case in point, this whole nightmare with pet foods - what a shock it was (for most consumers) to find that high end and low end pet food products were and are actually produced by ONE company

also, in many airport food courts - in my former days as an airport desing planner - most all of the food choices were and still are owned and operated by Marriott - (with some obvious exceptions - starubucks) - by providing "choice" consumers think that they "can" make a choice

this holds true for all manufacturing including OIL production - the oil industry often trades products and fills in when shortages occur... often delivering fuel products in unmarked trucks...

disney operates mammoth real estate enterprises under independently operated companies that buy, sell and trade all kinds of properties, etc, etc, etc....

the really bizarre thing for me was when I learned how many of these enormous enterprises are NOT owned (formally) by US companies....

Gas Prices Poised to Hit All-Time High

"According to the Government Accountability Office, the jump in gas prices has cost consumers an extra $20 billion this year, or about $146 for each passenger car in the country."

and we're not even half way through the year?!?!?!

and the oil companies don't have enough money to build more refineries?

    read more about it at

    Gas prices?

Since I have a hybrid and a full tank lasts me two weeks or so I have no idea what gas prices are.

    I take the car

    parking downtown is €1,50 /hour
its about 20 km back and fort and I use 8 liter per 100 km - so its about 2 litre of gas
    total = (parkinghrs * 1,5) + (2 * €1,40) = €5,80

Masstransit to downtown frankfurt ONE WAY is €2,10 so back and forth €4,20

I am usually accompanied by my BF when we go downtown so it would be €8,40 for us two....

That's why I take the car

    DEVELISH

ps. nighttime parkking fee is €3 from 7pm to 7am each day of the week

pp.s. http://www.google.com/search?q=%E2%82%AC8.40+in+%24 thats how google helps to convert currencies (maybe its of help for someone)

So heres what I would like to know. If gas prices are going down nation wide, why is it still so high in California.

It is really outrageous here on the central coast. The lowest price for gas is 3.25 a Gallon and up!!

It has always been that way. Actually it is natural for our species.

What is scary is that so few are pissed off about it.
