I was wondering, when you are going to sign up for a new affiliate program, do you ask your friends/colleagues for a referral code before signing up so that you make them whatever percentage the program pays on your joins or, do you go direct to the affiliate program itself cutting out the referral process of others?

For me its a mix and it depends on the program.
