Mark Zuckerberg announced some big changes to Facebook yesterday at its f8 developers conference. The first change, called Timeline, adds a new time-based scale so that its members can follow user updates over the years. See the first attached image below. The Timeline will be rolling out over the next few weeks. More info

The second new feature is the new Open Graph (second attachment). This will allow users to go beyond the "like" button, catering to all sorts of different actions like when people are listening to music, watching videos, reviewing restaurants, etc. Developers working on video/music-related apps can start working on new apps for the new open graph, and everyone else can after the timeline rolls out.

Finally, Facebook celebrated hitting a new milestone. In that last week it had half a billion people using Facebook in a single day.
