Anyone thinking about competing with AAG, forget it.

AAG has some well-seasoned mainstream modeling photographers. Some of their guys even shot the A&F catalogs and other stuff on that level. Not to bash adult industry photographers, but nobody on our end has the skills and equipment to do what mainstream can for a project like this. Just a fact.

And good luck finding models for such a site. Even great porn models are "guys next door" compared to legit mainstream models. So you aren't going to recruit them off the street at the rate you'd need. You'll be using agencies. Then of course they aren't going to work for $200 like a desperate twink will.

The pro mainstream photographer will cost you. And don't forget the hair and makeup professionals you'll need on hand also... or the wardrobe.

Great potential for such sites, but not something you decide to do on a whim... or a budget for that matter.

Anyone from our industry attempting such sites will be putting up cheap knockoffs. But I'm not saying anything you don't already know.

You Matt, the amazing thing about common sense is it isn't all that common.

    GREAT post mate.

i see some very high quality str8 porn photographers who do work like paul markham. great professional lighting, and they always use a hairstylist and makeup artist as well as good quality studios. i worked for one program who got 8 shoots done by a porn producer in hungary who - for every shoot - used a makeup guy, hair guy, lighting guy, grip, video guy, and still camera guy. the video camera and camera were of a VERY high quality.

so i don't agree that it's a fact. there's no reason to do another site like AAG, 'cause it's already there, but if you spend enough money, you can find gorgeous professional models in a large variety of looks. sure, if you spend $100 an hour for amateurs like i do, you get amateurs. that's fine, too.

but if you use a photographer who really knows his shit, high end video cameras, lighting men, and makeup people, you CAN make a site of the same quality. but you will spend some SERIOUS money getting started.

what if you were to do a site of that quality about twinks? that wouldn't be ripping off AAG, and i'd love to see it. the prettiest slender gorgeous 18 to 21 year olds shot with the ultimate quality in a variety of locations. or truly model-quality black guys, in full-on calendar quality shoots - i think it would ROCK!

have to agree with you on this one basschick... I just don't understand why straight porn has lots of glamour sites, while 97% of gay sites are just plain photos of some guys jerking off.

I mean, is there so much more money in straight porn? And by the way... AAG is not a GAY site and it's not intended mostly to gay men, and most of those photos are not glamour pics from my side of view, but just regular pics that great models make them look better.

The only site I can think of that comes a bit close to gay glam photo would be randyblue, but just a little close to it.

You asked for "Hot studs and jocks in non-nude positions, but very hot and sexy pics."

it's not so much whether there is more money in str8 porn - there is a greater variety of niches to promote. like handjobs - i REALLY wanted to promote handjobs, and the only two so-called handjob sites showed mostly blowjobs. i hit every board looking for handjob sponsors, and next thing you know, EVERY program has 'em.

there is NO reason why there are no handjob sites for the gay market.

besides non nude, there is also a lot of single girl sites with different themes. and a lot more reality site niches - like milf and granny. up until june 22, i had a grandpa avs site, and it sold well, and this is NOT mature but rather guys over 50.

even muscle - i tell guys here that i promote muscle and they say "eww! i hate bodybuilders". yet muscle was our number one converting niche for years.

i'd love to see some high end glamour sites, but if you're going solo or non nude, there's no reason they have to be "gay" sites. just make two tours or go gender-neutral.
