    If you owned the 4th oldest domain in history (mcc.com) wouldn't you have something on it or at least redirect it to another site? DUMMIES!

    Also, take into account the Cost of a domain in the 80's. When we started it was $100.00 per name. Our first .com was in 95.

    With the unknown future of this world wide net thing – no one was willing to plop that kind of cash down for uncertainties.

    our oldest domain was registered 08/30/96. we were on a subdomain before that - not that we knew what a subdomain was at the time *LOL*

    I think my oldest domain is from '97, though I registered a couple of others for companies I was working for in 95 and 96.

    As for porn... keep in mind that there was no way to *deliver* porn other than newsgroups and Gopher and FTP prior to 1994... and very little image support until sometime in 95.

    The other interesting thing is these are the oldest .COM domains... there were domains with no suffix (as in so-and-so@mit) back in the 80s, but of course, there were only maybe a dozen or two domains total...
