I had the same thing happen to me. I don't know that the guy's ex was manipulative and abusive, but my guy went back to his ex with no warning. I was pretty bummed about it. Things had been going SO well for us too, with NO indication that anything was wrong. I know that I can't compete with the 8-year-long relationship he has with his ex, but it's still impossible not to get bummed out and upset over it. When you truly connect with someone in that manner, to have it ripped away is like a sort of shock to the system. And I just don't deal very well with breakups. So good luck to you.
