Well, one client wanted paid advertising placement on there. So we did pay for a couple weeks of that.
Otherwise, it was just having MOTN sign up for the affiliate program. The traffic they were sending was converting well, so they gave it pretty decent placemen in their directory.

I rarely, if ever, pay for advertising unless a client expressly requests it as an addition to their marketing activities.
