Oh here's an interesting tidbit I just remembered...

In the Canadian military, like the military the world over, tats are pretty popular. Often guys would get them after some important milestone such as after basic training (or during), or after their first trades course, or after their first posting to a unit or a ship. Things like that...

BUT here's the catch...It was also considered a Self-Inflicted-Wound, (SIW).

Usually though, you only got nailed for that charge if you couldn't carry out your normal duties.

I remember one guy who decided that he was able to work quite well, after he was informed that he'd be facing a fine and what ever else the Sgt. Major could think up, if he decided to go to sick parade because of his new tat instead of going on a ruck march. LOL!
