Was it an Indian story? I just recently watched a program .. one of the learning channels, about society in India. Attachements and love between men is really the norm. Boys having no contact with girls, before they are married, form bonds that don't end on the wedding day.

Untill the English took over, and forced Western thinking and religion on a whole culture, it was accepted and encouraged.
