We've been tracking browser habits for a few years now and the midwest is a giant hotspot.

My theory is that in big places like NYC, LA, San Fran, Miami there are a lot of outlets for folks to endulge. They have bath-houses, video stores, sex toy shops, social groups, clubs, etc. etc. In other words if you are in NYC, there are a thousand ways to get off without ever touching the internet.

If you are in Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississipi, or other heartland states, where are your choices? You may have to drive a couple of hours just to get to a hole-in-the-wall-dive-of-a-gay-bar. Even in the larger cities like St. Louis or Kansas City where I've spent a good deal of time in the past, there aren't nearly the kind of options of a Philadelphia or Boston, much less a Miami.

That all having been said, there are a ton of gay folks on the coasts. Just go to one of the gay erotic or gay business expos in NYC or LA. Gay folks tend to leave the farms and move to the metropolis so they can be around other gay folks, but certainly a lot never do or never even come out of the closet. You have to market in NYC and Los Angeles, but any gay company trying to market in NYC is a dime a dozen. You have a shit load of competition.

How many gay websites are marketing in Springfiled, IL; Columbia, MO; Evansville, IN; Louisville, KY; Fairfield, OH? Well, there are at least a few such as the advertisers in the Justusboys.com Magazine which distributes in the midwest where we are the only magazine of its kind around. The distribution points there can't get enough of the mags. The people there are hungry for any kind of gay media. I think they just need to connect. They can't do it at the bars so they do it online... which is perfect for all of us
