Hey Don, I actually saw this movie a couple weeks ago during a press screening. Can't say I agree with you. It's not a must-see movie of the summer, unless you appreciate overwrought dramatics and overly obvious dialogue. The director, Victor Salva, who many of you may remember as the director of Powder and Jeeper's Creepers (and a convicted child molester), stages most of the scenes in the same "Whoa!" mysticism that marred Powder, and after a while, it all turns into that kind of flaky spiritualism that people tend to ignore. And there's no denying that Salva is gay gay gay--he stages all the scenes of the athletes like he wants to film the Abercrombie and Fitch catalogues as softcore porn flicks. Then there's the whole young hot boy being taught by an older man thing. It's actually a bit discomforting to watch, especially knowning his background with the law.
That's my $.02 anyway. You might enjoy it.
Scott Meklowitz is a fuckin' hottie, though. Plenty of shots of him with his shirt off and in tank tops.
