Image Map with HTML

I have some new index images that my graphics designer made but I do not know how to break them appart and put them together with HTML.
I have been doing my own web site work since 1994 but I think I am falling behind in Tech knowledge.

Photoshop could be used to slice up the images and be saved in html.

That's great but I have no idea how to do that. I also just looked at my Photo shop 5.0 program and it does not say anything about HTML design.
Guess I am kind of stupid on this.
