Well, I wasn't going to be negative but since you asked...

Why move from "America's Finest City"? We moved from Denver to San Diego two years ago & quickly became tired of the social culture (very much a "me first" attitude with no regard for anothers basic human existence). The drab climate (desert with a dirty ocean) becomes tiresome, not to mention the litter (says a lot for the people that call this home). A corrupt city that finds it necessary to give themselves the slogan of "America's Finest City" kind of says it all...

Good for you on Portland. I knew one guy who lived in Portland and he said he loved it. I had 2 other firends who visited Portland and both said they wanted to move there. One currently has his house on the market in socal to move to Portland, so it sounds like an awesome place.

I remember listening to the radio once and a lesbian woman was talking about how she was in portland and accidentally hit a parked car and it just left a small mark, but the guy who owned the car came out of the bar and invited her in and bought her a beer.
She said what a place, you hit someones car and they buy you a beer.

Yep, in the short two weeks we were there we met people just like that.

We met more quality people in the two weeks we were there who we've already been back in contact with than we have in San Diego in two years.

We're really friendly people, but that only gets you so far in SD

Its not so much the people I do not like about CA. its the socialist stuff, poor pubic services, everything is over priced, and all these mom and pop restaurants ECT :hmmph: I am moving to Ft Lauderdale soon and I cant wait, I really hope to see a hurricane, some rain, a alligator, and a club that is worth a shit.
