i know. i sometimes rewrite tour text for sites and generally there is a 15% or better increase in sales. i'm a BIG believer in text making more sales as well as bringing in search engine hits.

simons - both. you want them clicking as soon as possible.

Basschick,

I know when I help do members areas, especially my own, instead of just thumbs lead to a gallery (which many sites do), when i changed to having the thumb and a description in the members area I found members were exploring the site more. A thumb can only tell so much. And someone may not like the thumb, but may like the theme of tha gallery. Huge cumshot, etc etc.

Then you are just a distant memory. You got 1 hit out of 15,000 but what good was it? And if they come back and get the same thing again. They move on....

depends on the business model of the site.

most of the successful tgp owners i know send the first click to a gallery EVERY time. also if you're running a tgp that is building slowly with search engine traffic and only uses a toplist for trades, you have a very different animal than a trade tgp.

but either way, best to get the surfers to the gallery listings so they can either have their daily dose and bookmark your site or get traded to someone for another surfer who might like your ads more.

That is true as long as a surfer actually gets to a gallery...

Some skim so bad it's like a 1 in 10 chance.

You really need to watch your trades acrefuly. And remember you can set so you are skimming for only x amount of time, but doin it heavy, then skimming zero for x amount of time to get the bookmarkers and people in the galleries. Just how closely you watch your trades will determine your success.
