Gay LinkLists demands... all crazy?

From someone who works a lot in the AEN market, it's one of those old-style sites we put up back in the day. A couple of pictures and a "buy this" script. Not a lot of incentive to sell an AEN membership, which of course is what they want. And from the AEN's perspective, there's a lot of traffic leaks on that page. I'd add some more preview pictures and eliminate some of those leaks.

I Totally agree with you from an AEN point of view.

Here's how we differ though on our thought process Michael.

I'm not here to sell AEN's, sure its how I started (with sitepass waaaaay back) but that's not where my goal is.

My goal is to sell memberships to paysites....Therefore I build these AEN sites that AEN's can have as content for the members they already have and I get advertising space on some of the highest quality linklists out there, after all they pulled out their CC to buy the AEN membership so they'll do it again if they see the right site in the future.

It is interesting though that we still sell a shitload of AEN's across the board with these sites as they are all listed in some way on our network of galleries, LL's, freesites etc but that's just bonus money paying MaxPixels for their content.......

I also want to point out that we always produce sites like this too for the AEN's where we shot exclusive content to fill niches.... Gay Voyeur suff was one that I noticed was lacking in AEN content so I shot some...

Here my goal was to boost all the link list traffic and not promote any paysites on the outside but we take a bigger position inside the content area.

I'm very fair with linklists, AEN's to ensure we ultimately all make money....Hell there's enough of it floating around out there!

Been running a LL for 5 years.

I feel you could make a better effort to actually sell GMP.

I know Rob at UGAS would flip if he didn't see some text describing the benefits of UGAS.

Concerning AEN's, they don't really want a ton of galleries with agressive upsells, at least the bigger ones. Their ultimate goal is to get surfers to stay a member of their monthly recurring plan. Everyone that joins your paysite or whatever you sell is a potential customer they lost.

Basically, it's seems you model is leeching of the LL's and AEN LL's, hoping to sell sponsors, and if you make sales to the AVS it's icing on the cake.

I will say it does make money...

And that's the problem with most AEN galleries -- they look at the AEN hub merely as a traffic grab to sell other things. But you'd better check the fine print of the webmaster terms and conditions and submission rules because while the AEN may approve your gallery, they may not list you in their directories and search engines. So, you won't be getting much traffic anyway unless you're generating the traffic form link list submissions. If you at least try to sell the AEN and do more paysite upselling in the member's area, you'll keep the AEN happy and you'll get traffic.

And if too many webmasters do this, then the AENs just come up with a new rule to prevent it or penalize the action. AEN galleries are a balancing act: keeping the AEN happy and upselling to other sponsors. If you do it right, you can actually make more money by selling both the AEN's membership and upselling to your paysites.

If you continue to look at the AEN solely as a traffic grab, then they may change the rules of the game or lock you out. They exist to sell their own memberships, not to send traffic to your sponsors, and they'll protect that traffic.

Promoting the AEN is approach that's worked well for me. I almost always sell AEN memberships on new galleries and upsells to secondary sponsors.
