At the end of the day there are no guarantees in business, good people or not
It seems the definition of good person for sake of this discussion is the thing I'm confused about but it's all good I got the gist of it now :high:

when these people show up on the threads, they often use the words "good people" or "good guy" or "good person" but they don't mean a guy who donates to save the animals or helps little old ladies cross the street. most of the time, they mean the person or company was nice to them a couple times in public.
NOT my personal definition of a good person![]()
I tend to favor those that go to the shows and DON'T get drunk....
but that is just me.

While I am new to this board, I have participated in others. When I see a post complaining about something and there is a response saying that the person is a good person, usually I interpret that as being the person was receptive to me when I had an issue with him/her, why do you not contact them with your beef rather than complain on this board.
True enough Dennis although, that isnt always the context in which it is used.Originally Posted by hunkhunter

All things being equal, in my book, I want to work with an organization that I feel I can trust. And for me, that's in part whether someone is a "good person" but also whether they are a good businessperson.
For example... there are some people in the biz who I personally have little in common with and don't particularly think are charming and nice, but I'd have no problem doing business with them because I feel like they're honest and we'll have successful business dealings.
On the other hand, I've had business dealings with people who are pretty well regarded, friendly and nice, and whom I thought were decent and honest people ... who, it turns out, totally burned us (or at least, attempted to.)
So... I vote for integrity, however one can size that up, as the key element in choosing to work with someone or not. And usually, people with integrity are also decent, nice people, but "nice" people don't always have integrity.

That said, I still try and work with people I like and who turn out to be "good" - because life is too short and my time to precious to spend much energy with assholes.
