We used DV cam long ago, but we've occasionally run into resolution problems where the ID isn't easy to read because of the resolution limitations of DV. And we always (regardless of whether it's DV or stills) shoot closeups of the ID as well as the model holding the ID next to his face. I know some people that also show the model holding the release, and if the content is controversial (model is restrained or something) they actually have the model say that he is voluntarily participating, knows what he's getting into, etc.
Nothing other than an actual copy of the ID is required by 2257, nor should anything other than the ID and copy of the depiction be stored with 2257 records.
