People who are *really* into glasses also like to know the prescription of the lenses -- the worse, the better. And they don't like "fakes" (they can tell when someone is wearing planos by looking at the picture to detect a jump between the cheek and the cheeck magnified by the lens -- if there's not a big jump/disconnect then they know the lens is not prescription or not a very high strength).

Even if there are plenty of people who just like the "look" of glasses, the hardcore fetishists are interested in people with genuinely poor eyesight, and with some of them it even crosses over into a gimplike fetish where they like the idea of the person having such poor sight that they are handicapped and their vision is so poor that without the specs they will run into walls, have to hold their arms out to move around, etc.

Like gmartin said, it's also about what happens when the person takes the specs off and is "vulnerable".

OMG, there are so many topics in this one thread I can't keep up. Okay, I'm not going to spend an hour trying to reference every quote and post, so to those who's subjects I'm commenting on, you know who you are...

99 Red Balloons, yes, the lyrics are strange. Keep in mind they are a translation from a German song, trying to get relatively the same message across in a form that would fit the music and rhyming scheme of American pop. I had a German friend once tell me they were actually really far off from the original.

Balloons, IdolKnights, you are my new hero. I am fascinated by any fetish, especially the ones I don't particularly have myself, so your post was a huge interest to me. If you are not a balloon fetishist yourself then you've really done your homework. Kudos to you.

On the subject of fetishes, who knows where these things come from. There is a theory that many of them begin when we are imprinted by events in our prepubescent growth period that stay with us in an eroticised form as an adult. When I was going through puberty I had no idea I was gay, and being raised as a strict Catholic the idea of being hot for another guy would not even enter into it, so my theory is that my mind had to come to a conclusion about the sensations my body was feeling, and since I couldn't even fathom the idea of feeling sexually turned on by the male body, I had to find reasons that were not "forbidden" by my moral upbringing to fixate on. One of my early fetishes was hair. Most of the semi-nude male bodies I would see at that time were in music videos and the dancers all had great outfits and really cool hair, so instead of understanding that I liked the men's bodies, I somehow became turned on by their hair. My mom would never let me have cool hair when I was younger so I'm sure there was something in the "forbidden" nature of that as well. As I got older, I became fascinated with guys getting haircuts, specifically buzzcuts. Maybe it had something to do with taking a long haired guy and giving him a more masculine, military look. I have no idea. But to this day I can't walk past a barber shop without peeking in and I love seeing a guy get his head buzzed. I really love shaved heads and skinheads, so when I find a video online where a guy is getting his head shaved it's better than porn. Of course if he's tied up and naked then it really is my kind of porn. Heh heh.

There's a lot more to it than this, but I can't give up all my secrets, hee hee.

The point of the matter is that a fetish rarely has to relate to something in an overtly sexual manner. When someone was asking if the balloons made one think of a breast, or if the feeling reminded them of something sexual, it really doesn't have to relate in that way at all. It really is the feel of the balloon, the sound of the pop and the look of the shape or color. The connections comes from inside and you can't really force it. That's why you need to fully understand the fetish before you can even attempt to portray it in a video or set of photos.

Glasses are damn sexy! I love a "nerd" look (was totally hot for the Original Blue Power Ranger - Billy). The real fetish is for the intellectual guy. Intellectuals are usually very introverted, which appeals to the shyer lover. He isn't over bearing or overly dominant and seeks a connection with an individual that is more than just physical. This can appeal to a lot of guys who may be unsure of themselves just yet and needing to be with a guy who can "show them the way".

There's a shirt that says "If I can build a computer, I can make you cum." A good number of people (me included) are really turned on my someone who shows great intelligence in something we may not understand really well. While i know a bit about comptuers, I love a man who can play with the hardware.
