On the other hand.... You have different fingers
When we had a meeting with senior staff at our (now former) replicator, we discussed the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray thing and one of the big issues for them was investment in replication equipment. Apparently the same equipment that is used to fabricate standard DVDs can be used, with modifications, to fabricate HD-DVD, but completely new replication equipment will be required to fabricate Blu-Ray.
Additionally, authoring for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are *completely* incompatible and so if we want to put out a product in both formats, we will have to go through the entire authoring process twice. It doesn't sound like there is even a way to transcode the authoring from one to the other. You'll be able to reuse assets like images and graphics, but that's about it.
I know Paramount has announced and shown techology that will permit Blu-Ray, HD-DVD and SD-DVD to exist on the same disc, but I'm sure that replication will be enormously expensive.
But... with all that said, Blu-Ray still seems to have the favor of many more of the Hollywood studios than HD-DVD does, and I hadn't even really seen any Blu-Ray or HD-DVD adult titles, so perhaps the jury is more out than this article leads us to believe... or perhaps the writer of the article is on Toshiba's (HD-DVD) payroll
