For the Geezers, it isn't an inside joke. Just a childhood memory. :cowboy: In the late 50's the best you could do for TV on Sunday was football, or cowboy movies. So John Ritter was Tex Ritter's son, not the other way around.

Funny, AMC runs cowboy movies most every Sunday. Must be a Geezer in program scheduling.

You know I saw the Biography on John and they mention a moment when someone asked "Mr. Ritter" for an autograph, and Tex was surprised that the autograph seeker wasn't referring to him. To Tex it was the moment when the "star of the family" torch was passed. I hadn't known he was such a big deal back in the day.
