is it crazy? no. all the braincash sites offer 5 speeds, i believe, and so do others i've seen. the real issue is whether you can create a page layout that can offer that many speeds without looking lame.

consider the speeds of your users vs what they'd like to see. dialup and isdn users are covered by the 112k. common broadband speeds i'm aware of include 384k, 768k, 1.5mb and faster. i personally don't offer a 256kish speed - i figure at 384k, a little patience gets them a better quality video at 512k. you might see it differently.

the most unusual thing i see on your list is to offer both 1000k and 1500k. i can see a reason for it, though. 1000k loses sharpness when taken full screen at 1024x768 but 1500k still looks purty good.

and cutting up the videos makes sense for you as it can lead to less transfer AND more customer satisfaction. when we had jackoffguys, a lot of members watched only the first and last of the 5 clips.

We'd like to offer streaming videos ranging from dialup to big full size videos. But say if we do 112k, 256k, 512, 1000, and 1500, is that crazy offering them in so many speeds?

And what about spliting the clips up into segments, so the user can start half way through the video instead of waiting for it to load. Should we do that also? Or maybe just on the largest speed?
