Online Payments
Hello Everyone,
Here I am again, yes I know what you are all wondering... Well I am not going to go away, they have not as of yet, found a cute for me.
Ok, todays question...
Of the individuals here that accept credit card payments online for your business transactions, what's the best service, in your opinion. Being on the receiving end of the payment, to be more specific. *wink*
Thanks,
-

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?
So far as the best processor individual results vary unfortunately however, that said, CCBill has always been good to us
Do a search on the forums for payment processor related terms there have been a few discussions on this same topic in the past few months you find some advice you can use in those threads
Also, dont forget to check out the payment processors listed here

Are you talking adult or non-adult? If adult, you are limited to ccbill, ibill, verotel, jettis and epoch. All of these are good choices, some prefer one over the other but pretty much they are all first rate. If you have your own merchant account, some of these will process for you and there is also netbilling which is known as a top notch processor in the adult biz.
If you are talking non-adult, there is a lot of processors, I personally use worldpay.com and have always found them professional, reliable and very helpful.

That would be cool ... thanks. The only thing preventing me from starting my own paysite is that all these processors apparently require me to have a presence in the U.S.
Thanks, Lee

Hey thanks for the offer. I'm sure you'd welcome me. I'm just not sure Dubya wants two more porn-generating, gay men coming to his sandbox.
Besides, Canada is nice.

Dz, probilling used to do Canadian but they are out of business (I think they were in Edmonton). You might be able to pick up an account at verotel, I am still not really sure about their new rulings. But other than those, you are s.o.l.! What you have to do is set up a company in the US or somewhere in EU (Gibraltar is a nice tax free haven from what I hear), then you can set up with one of the aforementioned processors.
It costs about 500 UK Stirling to set up an EU offshore and you don't have to pay the $750 rego fee in the EU zone. One reliable company that does these setups is Fidelity, their site is at http://offshoregibraltar.com/
I really really would not recommend you go with any other small processor that pops up and tries to skirt around Visa's regs, you are just asking for trouble as well as putting your sales/rebills/payments/affiliates all at risk.
cheers,
Luke

Hey Luke and Lee,
Luke, that's for the heads up. Believe me I've seen the lesson of being above-board and running a site with integrity first hand. When I started my sites I had a choice to make: I could purchase content and never be worried about someone contacting me one day, or I could steal content, like I had seen so many others get rich on, and always look over my shoulder.
I chose the former. And clearly with all the stuff that's going on in the biz that was the better business decision, aside from all of the moral and ethical issues which are just as, if not more, important in my mind.
So, while I see a paysite in my future somewhere down the line, I'm not prepared to engage some fly-by-night operation that's just going to get me into a mess down the road.
What I'm having trouble with is this need to have a presence in the U.S. or setting up an off-shore company. It all sounds a bit scary and I'm not "there" yet. And I'm wondering about the implications of setting up a U.S. presence, does that mean I'm now paying taxes in two countries? Shit, I'm still busting my butt trying to get a top ten ranking in Google for "hairy men" let alone worrying about dealing with two governments.
But I do see things pushing me if credit card companies start making it too difficult for me to continue making money with the current model I'm using, so I'm trying to get some of the research legwork done now so it doesn't all seem quite so scary.
Finally, it seems pretty odd to me that in a country of 30 million people, I can't find one credit card processor who will process adult sites.
Thanks for your input and help, guys, I appreciate it.

Michael, I agree, it sucks that there is no CA adult processor, it also sucks that there is no Asia-Pacific atuld processor and there are billions of people in this region! The sooner you come to grips with Visa's arbitrary lines in the sand, the faster you will be able to proceed and set things up to live within their boundaries. Setting up an EU company is remarkably easy. Contact me direcly and I will give you more info.
I am hoping that I am not coming across as a real cow...I have rewritten this post several times! And if you think this is bitchy sounding, you should have read my first draught
cheers,

Luke,
Thanks a lot. And nope, you didn't sound like a cow. I appreciate the push. I'm just not ready to go there emotionally right now. Also, financially things are still a bit tight. So hiring lawyers, accountants, and people to register offshore companies are a bit beyond my reach at the moment.
But I'm glad to have information and a place to go when I need the help. So thanks so much for your help and offer for more.
Cheers
Michael
