We did 1800+ miles .. buying the higest octaine gas availible (91 in NM & AZ) and it never hit $3 a gal. YP last Sept we paid up to $3.06.
Our attitude is ...
it is, what it is.
It was still WAY less than 2 plane tkts .. and WAY more Fun!
:bunny:
baby, its $3.50 here in LA ($4.40 in the high end stations around us) and climbing every day - go figure - that's because we Californians like to put cleaner burning fuel in our cars which costs more to refine in our cleaner refineries - I guess we should move to Texas or better yet, back to Delaware.... or even better, put in a new well! or get rid of our gas guzzling trucks and jeeps....! or, at least get a Prius or something reasonable
I mean, how many billions in profits to the oil companies need to make every quarter anyway - when is enough enough?
Its already over gas prices will fall now, do not really see record high gas prices this year at all. What is the saying (tempest in a teapot)![]()
I know it hurts when the cost of living hits like it has been, groceries are killing us. I live in TEXAS because it fits our budget. Our road trippin' has always cost less in fuel consuption than 2 RTs out of Dallas and we maintain our road car to be as efficant as most modern vehicals.
However, I ask you ...has our country has never paid a fair market price for gas?
But I DO agree, the free market Fat Cats are livin' large. You got any suggestions?
well... since you asked, I think its about time that we get more bang for our bucks...
since we're spending billions to protect our (oil) intersts in the middle east, shouldn't we be hitting congress hard with e-mail and protests - (wo)-man, that region has us by the balls
everything they (congress) is doing now is just lip service - trying to hold their seats and nothing more...
the other thing we could do is give up our SUV's - we snobs here in Beverly Hills (at least those of us with a conscience) climb out of our Range Rovers, Bentleys, Ferraris, Lamborghinis (god forbid 6 miles to the gallon?!?!?!) and other gas guzzlers to drive around in toyota's and honda's fuel efficient vehicles that we keep stashed out of view in the garage....
as a matter of fact... Speilberg and our Castle Rock neighbor, Rob Reiner, enjoy showing off their high mileage vehicles all the time - they say its "...a good thing to show our youth that success doesn't mean you have to destroy the earth..." for a "valet" photo moment as you exit your car at a nearby restaurant or the academy awards
Cam talked to Speilberg about this very issue when they were in line at the 90210 post office a couple of weeks ago - yes, Steven actually buys his own stamps every once in a while....
I mean, who gives a flying fuck if Paris Hilton gets her Bentley impounded (no real news here) the REAL NEWS would be if she had her toyota prius impounded!
In case you don't know about this....

yes, those "pricing" sites aren't so great - they tend to be way out of date - by the time you've driven half-way across town to save a few pennies, the prices have changed!
that's why we hoof it so much around town whenever we can - we're kind of known as up-scale street walkers around these parts...at least we still turn heads (sometimes) but no accidents as a result (lately)....
I thought you might find this fitting...

oh vey! and why do I even complain -
obviously NO GAS CRISIS here in Beverly Hills - again today, as Cam and I took our daily walk around town, we pass by the shiny new Mercedes(s) (plural sp?) in the window of the BH Mercedes Dealership where the new SUV boasts 14 miles to the gallon (on a good day) ! and the luxury cars boast a mere 6! ACHHHH!
that is so disgusting to me - talk about gross consumption - what does that tell our kids? suck all the oil out of the ground so that your mommy and daddy can show off their wealth to their friends - disgusting!
however, there's a very cool 1924 classic convertible fully painted in a psychedelic motif - very cool! - takes me back to my days when I drove a classic....eeesh - but mine got great mileage - go figure?!?!
