    who gives the lamest excuses?

its amazing the excuses that have been flying across my desk recently, mainly from adult designers. I think, without fail, every time I have ever hired someone to do design work they have a serious illness in their family (usually their mothers). Its almost like clockwork, I hire them & pay 50% and wait a week, then get in touch with them for an update and their mum was sick / in the hospital / on her deathbed / etc...

So who do you think gives the lamest excuses?
(voting more than once is allowed)

    cheers,
    Luke

    Now Sam...

You know as well as I do, with gay people, it isn't excuses, it's DRAMA!!!

So it will be (said at 100 mph) "OMG my best friend's boyfriend left him and came back to his apartment and took all his stuff and even his clothes and he needs his new suit to start his new job and I have to go with him to get another suit because his boyfriend has left town and no one knows where he is"

    :broccoli: :broccoli:

I think Chip was not making that up, he was repeating an actual excuse he heard from a model :-)

OK! enough with the designer shit already!

You know that I AM a "real" graphic designer and take great offense when you speak ill of my fellows....!

Yes, I know that there are good designers and bad designers BUT!, if the clients don't spell out what their specific needs are and hire someone with no experience and no references, then you can't really blame anyone but yourselves for bad management....

I mean really, I get what I expect from someone I hire to do a major task for $300 knowing that the real world price would be more than 100X or $30,000 for the same -- problem is, in the porn world, nobody wants to pay

The operative word in the above described cases should be "wanna be" deigners - real designer such as myself with over 30 years experience are worth every penny we get...! that's why my clients such as AT&T and EXXON are so successful and well recognized around the globe....

Just hire me and I'll really stick it to you (but then again, I DO deliver....) -

Which is why I selected producers =-)

I actually used to be the Production Manager for the largest large format digital printer in the U.S.
People would always complain about the Digital (design) depo but I knew you get what you give =-)

It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that they ARE so talented. With their ability to create you'd think they could manage to weave a good lie when they want to blow you off or something.

Wait, I thought we were talking about design here, not "personal fulfillment services"
