By the same token, the same could be said about paysites. Aren't you launching new paysites soon?

It's not 1995 anymore. There are millions of paysites. Those putting up paysites now are jumping on an old bandwagon and copying everyone else.

    Isn't that what you're saying?

I thought of putting up a social networking site but prefer semi-retirement. I'd be shot dead if I tried to foist off more work on someone else.

Sure, people bookmark their favorite sites, but there are hundreds of thousands of new Internet users every day. That is the market you want to attract, the non-jaded newbies.

Would you not say there was a fundamental difference between paysites and social networking type sites though?

Again, 99% of adult social networking sites are going to fail, so far nothing has been said to disprove that fact.

to be honest nothing has been said and no numbers shown to confirm your numbers, unless you have a crystal ball with everknowing answers (in which case i would like the lotto number for next week)

and wouldnt you say that a shitload of paysites fail too ?

agreed, social networking is harder to get up and proffit from but ..

    Hey Lee,

We have many successful clients who operate social networking sites, and even though they are different from paysites on many levels - the successful ones on both sides are about NICHE market.

Right, i know JMan has a bunch that he promotes heavily that are highly niche specific, tattoos, bikers, etc.

But most that webmasters launch are just 'porn' with nothing specific about them, which attributes to their failure.

By this logic, everyone would have to develop their very own original & radical ideas and not duplicate anything anyone has done before. The blog, review, TGP, AVS, freesite, paysite, forum, etc. markets are clogged with competition.

I could never make a paysite as successful as Randy Blue, Corbin Fisher and Sean Cody... so why bother.

I don't think the logic would lie in not making a new site as a copy of a particular niche...

Yes it takes a lot to get any type of site up and running. The main thing is to try to figure out what people are not going to get bored with and to latch on it. Yes there are a few Social Networking sites right now. But something definitely new will come along and people will jump on it... because after a while the same people come onto the sites and people get bored with people easily.

IE. Less users I notice in my area who used to go to gay.com to hookup, I see less of on gay.com now and moreso on manhunt, or both even because they are two similar sites to network on but have completely different user bases. It really depends on the people and what they are looking for. And that is where the success lies.

Something else will come along that is pretty much the same as the sites before, but just better features or different features or different users, and it will click.

Sorry, my post was confusing. It was meant to have a sarcastic tone. I think any market could use more competition... especially when you offer a new twist to an old formula, do it better or target a different market/niche.
