Hey, Dean, glad to hear you're making progress with the site! I'll catch you for a chat soon.

I just wanted to add, FWIW, that most adult webmasters I know that focus on straight porn are more likely to try a small sponsor that uses CCBill rather than epoch, simply because they prefer one check and have a bundle of CCBill sponsors already. Again, this may be different with gay AWM

I wish Rand would pinpoint exactly when this feature will be available with Epoch. Soon, affiliates will be able to merge Epoch accounts just like CCbill does. It is the last major hurdle Epoch needs to overcome. For years as an affiliate, I was so annoyed that they didn't offer this basic feature. Affiliates LOVE this about CCbill and it's a major attraction for both big and small affiliates.

I am almost certain they are working on it as fast as they can, because they know what an important feature it will be! I recently got the whole sales talk from a guy named Frank over at Epoch. Hell of a guy really like him! He posted me a link to an xbiz article that actually stated in words that the feature was coming, and that was back in Jan!

I am currently going through the initial signup steps with Epoch. Im getting in early on a new project with them, as i personally feel when they add account merging for affiliates, they will be offering a service FAR superior to CCBILL.

I may be wrong, but looks to me like Epoch have account merging working, or at least in place. By the look of it you can merge affiliate accounts to 1 account, and select the program from a top dropdown menu when logged in.

I'd be picking Epoch as my primary biller. When I send traffic to one sponsor using ccbill, I convert at 1:600 or higher; when I send traffic to the same sponsor using Epoch, I convert about 1:300. It's the same kind of traffic – freesites. And since Epoch now has the ability to merge accounts so the webmaster gets one cheque, I see no reason to favour ccbill. As well Epoch is now using a cascade. The only thing against Epoch is that a lot of webmasters really favour ccbill, so if you offer Epoch only, it might be hard to get those webmasters to promote you.

    Cheers
    Michael

    Michael,

I'm curious if your conversion ratios for both include or exclude declines. The reason I'm curious is to know whether it's the processor's *reputation with surfers* itself (or the join page, or whatever) that is causing more sales to be completed, or a higher percentage of successful transactions.

We have a substantial amount of non-US traffic, but when we look at our declines, the majority are NSF (as in, debit cards with no cash in the account) which aren't going to get approved at any processor. I see almost zero "decline at preauth" which, as I understand it, are declines based on CCBill's scrub.

If it was simply looser scrub, then we would expect to see a bunch of declined transactions at ccbill cascading to Epoch and getting approved... but our own experience is that isn't often the case. Of course, I think our traffic may be a little different than a lot of sites.

It would be really interesting to discover if, perhaps, surfers don't like the look of ccbill's join page, or don't want to process with ccbill, or something else, and that is creating a higher conversion with Epoch.

I wouldn't be able to answer your questions Chip since it's not my site. I'm just sending traffic. And my hunch is that it's the scrub that's the issue.

I will say that CCbill has one of the worst looking join pages.

Any webmaster that processes through Ccbill should do a two part join page for sure.

my experience when working with a program using NATS was as michael's - we had more signups with epoch. there weren't more declines showing all the time but there were more signups. what does that mean? hell if i know.

lloyd, i'm thinking about that. just checked with that program, and they do collect username, password, zip code on a page in their site - a purty one. but even so, ccbill got noticeably less signups, and when i think back, i don't think using that 2 page join changed that at all from when they linked directly to ccbill. weird!

With so many new user driven programs now pushing css as a customize your own layout option, Maybe it's time for the processors to adopt, or at least entertain, this function so the join pages can become a little more custom looking and better fit the linking tour.

CCbill does allow some customization of their join pages. It seems most sites choose to use one the many generic templates provided by CCbill.
