sex.com "just" geo-ip redirects their main page http://www.sex.com to the landing page - I can see http://www.sex.com/sex/form.html without any issues...

Fits to the picture here in Germany, doesn't it? I guess it gives some politicians and self appointed 'professional' youth protectors wet dreams already. A state controlled filtering system for all content deemed unsuitable for the people. And the German Michel just nods and carries on worrying about... hmm, nothing.

The blocking of the sites is not by the state/country its due to some asshole suing online businesses and telcos cuz his video rental stores are loosing money to VOD-Portals and foreign porn sites (which have been driven out of the country by a statewide face-to-face age verification requirement)

Yes, Dev, I know it's not by the state/country... yet! But you mentioned China and you know damned well that Schaeuble (and others of his like) dream about implementing something like this by law. If it doesn't work for the 'war against terrorism' they will certainly find other reasons... Who can really vote against protecting the young and innocent? They are not ashamed to use good intentions for their political goals.

That is insane - this person has to realise that video rental stores are doomed for death. And why block just adult sites? What about blocking Google, after all it helps people find videos. Or YouTube or any sites that contain videos.

Luke, I know, like in the US IPSs and SearchEngines are excempt from basically all the rules that apply cuz they down't own the data but rather just pass it on... HOWEVER all of them know what data they handle (ISPs know the domains/IPs and Google knows the theme of the search) - still it is free flow of information that has to take place and no fucked up jerkoff should be allowed by our industry to follow his very own screwed up plan to saviour his rundown Video Buster rental chain.

I seriously hope that this means open war.
