I love how that's the way they want to spread "education" about HIV, by forcing a test on people rather than actually put into practice real educational programs, and God forbid teaching about safer sex ed in school. Always attack the problem rather than going for the root.

don mike - it's not just about STDs or sex. our country seems to resist any kind of real education in life skills that don't involve being behind the steering wheel of a car.

The HIV infection rates are just going to get worse. I for one welcome any measures that make people aware that they have it, even if it's forced testing.

I also believe that every government should require that it's citizens undergo screening for various things at certain intervals.

Thank God that there are still some Americans who believe in basic human rights, including the right not to be forced to take certain type of medical tests. What's next? Mandatory sterilization? Denial of health care for those determined to be too old and thus of no value to the population any longer? Limits on the amount of children you are allowed to have? Oh gee, and how about this one....let's make sodomy a crime...afterall, it only occurs between degenerate homosexuals. GIVE ME A BREAK!

You want to control HIV and other STD's and other CONTROLLABLE health problems? Then DEMAND that your legislators bring back sex/health education in ALL public school starting in the 6th or 7th grade and make it a mandatory class EVERY year until graduation. AND, DEMAND that the sex educators be permitted to teach how HIV and other STD's are transmitted and how they can be prevented INCLUDING condom use. Currently no school that receives public funding is permitted to teach anything other than abstinence or "JUST SAY NO". This isn't rocket science.

"Forcing" any person to take a medical test or procedure against their will in this country is just plain wrong. It's done in China and Korea...but it should never be done here regardless of the justification.

    Bill

Very well put Bill. In Washington state there was a big battle a few years ago about making all doctors report any patient that was hiv+ to turn that information into the state health board.

The problem then, like in this proposal, is when you've got VERY closeted men, or people simply having problems with their sexuality and VERY afraid of something like hiv exposing them (ironic turn around), they would STOP going to the doctor to prevent the dissemination of this info, and thus would not get the medical care they needed and should receive on top of everything else. You drive the disease UNDERGROUND and you start losing control of the spread..the opposite of what the backers of this bill purportedly wants.

We are forced to undergo vaccinations as children, so why not some quick tests here and there as adults? Were these vaccinations a violation of your human rights too?

As children, we are dependent on our parents to take care of us.
As adults, the last thing I need is the state trying to take care of me without me asking them to do so.

I'm not talking about parents forcing kids to do something. If you don't get your shots, you simply are not allowed to attend school. This is a preventative measure to ensure that disease isn't spread from child to child.

Seat belts and smoke detectors are also preventative measures that have been made into laws. Sometimes things are proven to save lives, yet people don't take advantage of them so a law is made to force it.

I think it's ironic that you consider the solution to the HIV crisis to be condom use, yet you pay people to bareback.

Representing a few Adult Studios and content providers that shoot bareback, I know first hand they seem to get allot more of the blame for the virus spread than they should. I've seen every film that Bill has produced and on every single one of them there is a disclaimer on the dangers of having unprotected sex and to show that adult films are only a fantasy as they have been for the last 40 years. Anyone that actually thinks that they're going to get laid ordering a pizza, in my opinion needs all the education they can get. I bet your one of the narrow minded people that consider pre condom films different than bareback. It's the same.....period. Just as the major condom studios are again re releasing films from the pre condom era as no condom films instead of pre condom films, showing that a film with no condoms used is just that and no fancy term can change that, if someone sells a film with no condoms today, there is no difference in the ways it's marketed...it's bareback!!

I'm not trying to get off topic here so let me address the issue at hand. You appear to be unhappy with this countries way of doing things. If this is the case then your free to leave. Education is vital to our way of living! When a government or head of state lobbies for mandatory testing of anything without first demanding education I would find that person or persons to be possibly from another country and last I heard, Arnold didn't have a New York accent!! It seems that everyone with an opinion on this matter aside from you is against being told what they're going to do as well do I. If you honestly feel that mandatory adult testing without the proposal of education first isn't irresponsible, then again, you may want to reconsider your residing country.

For the record, I don't see anywhere in this thread where Bill said anything about a solution either so you may want to hold back when considering putting words into a persons mouth, as it make you less likely to be taken seriously. I find it unlikely that there is any other solution aside from not having sex at all, which is obviously not going to happen. Having 3 children, 2 boys and a girl , I lobby for education in our schooling systems as I feel that not at least addressing the matter is certainly causing much more harm then good. I want my children to have as much knowledge as possible in all matters of life. Especially ones that can remove them from it.

I think its a GREAT IDEA - Knowledge IS power - if people know their status, they might do something positive about taking care of themselves but most importantly, it will help to keep them from spreading the infection - and will also help people who know they are negative to remain so by not putting themselves at risk...

AIDS is serious and only serious measures will help stop the spread of HIV

No irony to it at all Matt. First, let me address your comparison to vaccinations and "forced" testing. Vaccinations for children do in fact protect other children. That is a good thing. I believe that the government, under certain circumstances, has the right and duty to protect it's citizens from others. If it is proven, such as vaccinations for smallpox for example, then it is the duty of the government to insist that it be administered for the greater good. A very strong argument can be made that "forced" testing of HIV does not protect the citizens from each other. It is easily arguable, that forcing HIV tests may well prevent many from even going to the doctor and thus forcing HIV and AIDS underground. One may also argue that if a person knows he is HIV+ because he was "forced" to submit to a HIVtest, then that person would not knowingly has sex with someone without a condom. We all not that isn't true and most of us are aware of stories to the contrary.

Seat belt laws? A very good thing. Why? Because in a collision, if you are not wearing your seat belt you are likely to be thrown from the vehicle, or at minimum tossed around in the vehicle and thus lose control of it. The vehicle is then likely to continue on and injure someone else or create personal property damage. So seat belt laws to protect others, not just the wearer and I support seat belt laws whole heartedly.

How about helmet laws. Helmet laws only protect the wearer of the helmet. They do not protect others. I believe that you....me...all of us have the right to be stupid. Or, that we have the right to take our own life if that is what we want to do. For that reason I never have and never will support helmet laws. Like it or not, stupidity is and should be protected by the U.S. Constitution. Whenever I see someone racing down the road on a motorcycle and not wearing a helmet, I think to my self, "there goes another organ donor, he just doesn't know it yet". Yeah, I think it's stupid not to wear one, but I believe he or she has the right not to wear it if they so choose.

How about the KKK? Do you like them? Believe in what they stand for? Do you support their belief that this country would be better off without jews and niggers.....and, gasp.... QUEERS? I'll bet this is something we can agree on. I hate them also. Being raised in the south I know many "kluckers". As much as I hate them and what they believe in, I support their right to march an expound on their beliefs. They have as much right to march in a parade as our community does. If you take away their right to expound on what they believe, we risk losing our own right to say what we want to say and in what we believe. Like it or not, you cannot take away the rights of one person or group of people, without risking losing your own.

Lastly to your argument about me paying models to have sex without condoms. It's almost like you are saying that I force or encourage or request models not to use condoms. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have never recruited a model. They all come to us freely. They all know what type of films we make and they ask us if they can be in one of our films. You have no idea what steps we take to protect our models. If you want a clue, then look in the latest issue of X-Biz Magazine for a very lengthy article on the subject with me. It might also interest you to know that the new president of Falcon, Todd Montgomery, said something to the effect that under certain circumstances, "there could be the possibility of bareback content being produced by mainline gay adult studios". Read the article for his full and complete quote.

We don't force anyone to do anything that they are not already doing in their private lives. If their was a way to determine their actual status ON THE DAY THEY ARE FILMING, we would use it. As it is, their is no current method for us or anyone to determine the HIV status of a person on the actual day of filming. Actually there are, products such as Ora Sure, but they are only available to doctors offices and clinics. If we accepted test results that were....as AIM requires, current within a month, then we would be creating a false sense of security and very likely create a situation such as occurrd in 2004 when 4 straight women caught HIV from a male model who had a current test. So, of not being able to conduct a test on the day the model performs, we make sure that every model knows, at the time they come to us, that we only produce bareback films and they MUST assume that every model in the film is in fact positive at the time of filming and that they must assume that the others models may likely also have other STD's. And, please, don't attempt the arugment that a model who is hard up for money will do anything to make it. Nearly all of the models we use have full time careers. Money is not the issue for them. Most of them would do it for free. They do because they are exhibitionists or it it a fantasy they have to be a "porn star". We all know that in this industry most models, probably 98% of them don't do it for the money. Only a handful every make a living at it and then only for a short period of time.

We have always supported the right of every person in this country to have the type of sex they choose to have, provided each of the parties involved are adults and are fully informed. To deny that right to anyone is wrong.

Once we begin to take away rights and freedoms....then all rights and freedoms are at jeopardy. If we say, no, you cannot have sex without a condom, then how many steps away are we from saying that gay men can't have sex with each other or a man and a woman cannot have sex doggie style...only in the missionary position. Don't laugh. At one point in the history of this country that was the law in many states and many of those who influence the idiot we currently have in the white house would like to see it go back to being that way.

Do I pay my models? Sure. Do I pay them to have sex without a condom, yeah, I guess so. But reality is I pay them to have sex on camera. It is I who simply chooses not to film movies that feature condoms. Every model knows this before he ever fills out our online application. No model has ever been "forced" to do anything on our set he did not want to do of his own accord and that he doesn't already do in his private life.

Do I believe that someone watching one of our films will choose to go out and participate in unsafe sex because he saw it in an HDK film. Nope! I don't believe that anymore than someone watching a NEWLY RELEASED Falcon film with no condoms which was filmed in the 80's or that someone who watches Law and Order on TV will go out and commit muder. The only difference between our company and most of the companies who are now releasing "no-condom" films is the fact that we are up front about it, plainly state who we are and what we do and we make sure that on every box cover and at the beginning of every film, we tell every viewer that HIV is bad thing and they need to do everything they can to keep from getting it...we tell them they don't want it....and we tell them that the best way to prevent it, if they are having sex with others, is with the use of condoms. We, at least, are honest with our models and our viewers about the risks involved in not using a condom. But then, we believe that everyone in this country has the right to decide for themselves the level of risk they are willing to take.

I would suggest, that if you want to continue a discussion of the risks of barebacking or whether or not it is right or wrong, that you create a thread for such purpose since we have quickly digressed away from the topic of this thread. I'll be happy to join you in such a debate anywhere.

Now, excuse me while I go watch another episode of Law and Order.

    Bill

I guess the reason I agree so much with everyone having to get an HIV test because I mean what does it hurt??? I mean you dont even have to be pricked with a needle anymore.. It would help out awhole lot if America as a nation can come together and go ( Ok yeah we will take this test so that we can help out others being infected without knowing and also put those criminals to justice that are spreading HIV ) But instead americans HAVE TO GO YELLING DOWN THE STREETS.. Our freedom is being ripped away BLAH BLAH BLAH when it really should be more of a group effort from us as americans to try and stop and wild and evil treand of the illegal spread of HIV.

My friend he was "16" years old.. The first guy he got together with was 32 and then at the age of 17 on his 18th birthday my friend found out he was HUV positive and the guy ( his boyfriend ) freaked out and left town cause he didnt tell my friend .. I know it was not right for a 16 year old to be with a 32 to year but at the same time there is thousands of people outside right now having sex with people without telling them and I think it is one of the evilest things to do to someone and It makes me so mad when I even think of it..

I think now days a lot of gay men and even the str8 community dont fear HIV because these doctors and clinics are saying to people.. You are going to live a healthy full life if you just take this poison everyday to keep you alive. If people did there homework it is much more than just a pill and it is a lot more painful then they think. I have sat by someones bed and watched them die even with those damn pills. I think it is worth the 1 sacrifice americans will be having to make to make our country a healthier place. I dont think it is good that US as americans are always walking around throwing TISSY fits cause we have been spoiled with FREEDOM and then when it comes down to working as team members as a nation then people start getting nasty and techinical cause they dont wanna have to do something really minor to make everyones lives better.

OF COURSE THIS IS MY OPINION AND IM NOT TRYING TO PUSH IT ON ANYONE BUT I THINK IT IS A GOOD IDEA
    Love
    KT

P.s. I think it would also have an AMAZING EFFECT ON A GAY STUDIO TO COME FORWARD AND BE LIKE HEY.. Our studio will go first to set an example and healthy trends I think it would show a huge maturity in our community. The studio(s) who stepped forward I think would gain a ton of respect in many different ways. There is nothing wrong with being mature and informed about HIV.

:maxpower: ( THIS USE TO BE MY SYMBOL DAMMNIT LOOK WHO GOT IT HOW AWEFUL )

ONCE AGAIN THIS IS NOT MEANT TO PISS ANYONE OFF OR BE RUDE OR ARGUEMENTATIVE.. This is just my opinion.. Like I have said before.. Opinions are like assholes everyone has one.. So please take no offense.

This may sound completly harsh but I agree.. Our country is always resisting learning the hard REALISTIC facts and facing them and learning from them. A lot of what youth is learning these days has nothing to do with EDUCATING Themselves but SELF STIMULATION. That is just my opinion of course.
