yes, the average surfer IS clueless about what NATS is. however some of my very average surfer buddies did see the news, and all they understood is that joining porn sites might cause them some trouble - they weren't quite sure what that trouble might be, which made them pretty nervous.

True. We use CCBill, and after the NATS thing hit mainstream press, I had a few members contact me to find out if we were compromised.

Granted, it was only a handfull of members, but with such a small site like mine, that is a large percentage.

Back to the topic on hand however, I do not think that a recession will hurt us that much. Yes, it might hurt some, but a vice is a vice, and people still smoke, drink, (and watch porn) no matter what their economic situation is. I just think that maybe they will become more selective about the sites they join.

I also do not think small niche sites will be as affected as larger mainstream "sex" sites. Those you can find anywhere, but if you are into something very specific, it is harder to find.

I hope I am right...but I have started my savings in case I am wrong...and it is not in US dollars thats for sure!

I must disagree with with part of that statement. While it is true that they will be more selective about what sites they join, I think that an increasing number will simply NOT join any sites and simply search for FREE and/or STOLEN content sites. There are more of those than ever and if you want to be honest about it, if you want to get off online without EVER joining a membership site iT is easy and more and more will be doing it.
