Lee:
Hey, I hear ya. I'm world famous for avoiding confrontation.
I was in a 9 year relationship throughout my 20s, which went on at least three years too long.
But in that I was too timid and co-dependent to confront it, wasting a lot of our time. (Although the neglect was mutual, he and I just grew apart)
You could just try with sitting him down and saying that you are unhappy and want to be single. Nothing personal, that's just the reality. If he calls you a loser for just "giving up" don't get defensive, allow him to let off steam. And keep repeating what you want.
My breakups have been *divorces* in every sense of the word.
If he can really dominate you one on one, you can get one or two of your friends to appear at your place, and you all gang up on him intervention-style, which was how I ultimately had to handle my last relationship.
See, many people may be unaware of this, but some time ago, a bunch of Latino control-crazy coke bottoms all got together and formed a city. This city is today called San Antonio, Texas.
:morning: Caveat emptor!
Steve
