If Canada had Mexico's weather, I would have moved years ago. However, my snow allergy prevents me from extended stays!!

I would be VERY happy if Canada would annex Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona and New Mexico. In return, the US could annex Alberta.

I think Japan is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. And while it certainly is peaceful now, 60 years ago was quite a different story.

Good point Angel! The eastern and southern United States was not so peaceful in 1863 either. And while Amsterdam is wonderful today, in 1942 it was not a good place to look Jewish. Spain was not such a great spot during its civil war.

Hehe - Germany is nice to - and it was nice back then ... just a little... well... exciting to travel I guess

BUT you could've gone to Monaco, Nice, Paris etc and still be in "Germany" - how weired is THAT?

the map (edit: forgot to post link http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...942_map_de.png) shows germany 1942 during the war against russia (blue is germany, german occupied terrerories and german allys, red on the other hand are THE Allies agains Germany et all)

Oh btw: the Airport Berlin Tegal will close this October 30th - whoever vists Venus in October should go there and take a glimpse at the monumental architecture - it IS indeed intimidating - they had good marketing personell back then, the branding and recognition is superior hehe
    :-D

Well, I don't think it was so nice back then. And you were certainly only "free" to travel if you wore one of those uniforms and only to places you were send to fight. Otherwise your blockwart might have approved a week on a KdF vessel, but only if you were a party member, behaving well and of course not gay. If you were gay your most likely trip would have been a one way tour to a concentration camp. Personally I think Germany would fit perfectly to Lee's list in those days some 70 years ago.

Oh, and the airport that gets closed is Tempelhof, not Tegel. Tegel is up for closure in a couple of years when the new airport is opened. So there is still plenty of time to visit Tegel. But when I think about it there is actually no reason to visit Tegel except for flying in or away.
