What movie had that quote "Follow the money", in this case meaning that if you know who is profiting from the current "crisis" and can predict their motives, this will lead you to who the next prez will be.

I originally thought of your theory Lav, but here are four reasons I think it might not come to pass:

1. I have a hunch that Bush and Cheney are actually looking forward to leaving their jobs. Think about it, which would you rather have: book tours, highly paid speaking engagements and endless golf and hunting or hanging around DC and dealing with the next round of disasters? I could be wrong, but W seems like such a slacker I think he might be counting the days to getting back to Crawford.

2. If you believe in conspiracy theories and shadow governments, could it be in their benefit to have Obama in the White House? Think about it: if Obama gets elected there could certainly be a new feeling of optimism and hope across the nation and the world. Happier people spend more money and do more things, so wouldn't our unseen overlords profit from that?

3. Along those same lines, if foriegn contries are really pulling the strings on our government (as many suspect), wouldn't it to be in their interest to have happy Americans working harder and spending more money as opposed to the deep depression that half of America (and the world?) will be in if McCain/Palin win?

4. I think McCain knows that it was already decided that Obama would win so he was pissed and decided to do some bold things like putting Palin on the ticket. If he thought he had any chance to win I think he would have put someone more experienced in that job... unless part of the "plot" yet to unfold is Palin dropping out after a terrible debate performance this week.

Just something to think about.
