Porn & Politics?

With blogs being so popular, and everyone under the sun having an opinion, I am wondering does porn and politics mix?

I mean should there be anything other than porn on a blog, or site, such as a contribute to an aids charity, or to vote for or against some proposition? Should porn webmasters let their political stripe be shown, or keep it separate, at all times, a little, now & then?

IMHO porn and politics certainly dont mix, unless you are talking about the politics of porn.

I see people all the time putting banners and links up on their sites about things such as 'go vote' or 'vote democrat' etc and im 100% certain this pisses the surfer off.

Porn is a way for surfers to 'escape' in to their fantasy world, there is no reason why we should force reality in to that world, all it will do is lose us sales, despite the people doing it thinking they are doing the 'right' thing.

I forget who it was but a couple of years back someone posted on GWW that they mentioned something political on their members site and they pissed off a lot of surfers, some even cancelled their subscription, might be worth looking that old post up

My blog has always been a reflection of my personality. I've been adding a lot more political items lately because that's what's on my mind right now.

I am also using my email lists to spread information about demonstrations. Rallying the troops from the grass roots involves using every device available, and I feel that since I have a forum to that, I might as well use it.

Bars were traditionally the meeting places for the gay community to rally support for political causes. On the flip side, people go to bars to escape, so where would we be if gay bars never mixed politics with entertainment?

As much as I hate to admit it, you are probably correct. Porn and politics most likely don't mix....or at least should not mix. People do visit porn sites, whether it's a video site or porn blog site, to escape.

I'm guilty of mixing the two at http://www.hotdesertknights.com/blog. When ever I talked about democrats or republicans I always got complaints. So, I guess I'll just quit using the blog for politics. With one exception....and that is what is going on in California with the passage of Proposition 8. Since it pertains directly to the gay community it seems that the posts I've made on that subject have been well received.

Think jumbling porn and politics isn't good idea. People visiting your blog awaiting some hot pics, not your political opinions. Don't forget, around half of people / visitor has other political favorites and they can be pissed off ...

Porn and sex ist fun. Politics ist just.. hmm (no, I don't get started on this topic).
No, I don't want to be bothered with politics more than I already have to. And certainly not on some website that's meant to entertain me (from my surfers point of view).

I mix it on my personal blog. I've gotten a few negative comments, but I think on the whole it's a plus. What I'm always amazed with is the number of politically conservative guys I have reading my blog.

In my opinion...... most businesses should keep their political beliefs seperate from work, but if your in the gay porn industry, thats a different story! If your political beliefs are positive to the gay community and you produce gay porn/sites, you should feel free to combine them with your business. Although, be sure to not offend clients or customers, so you dont lose business! ;-)

I think if you have a separate link on your blog leading to political content it might be okay. I don't think I would have it right there in your face next to the cock shots, unless of course your talking about DICK Cheney! LOL
