I have so many irons on the fire (work and personal) right now, that I have been neglecting the webmaster boards, unfortunately. It's nice to check back in.

I agree. I look at GFY, GMS, and some other boards, and I see people posting constantly. We stay slammed here which is why I don't post as often as I used to. Geesh these 20 hour work days are killing me. But I've wondered that myself. Good point.

Bec, I love that picture! Our one dog was a rescue from the local SPCA Kill shelter. He turned 8 last month. We dressed him up, put sun glasses on him, put a hat on his head, and put a tuxedo outfit on him from Petco. It was the cutest thing! I'll have to send you a picture. But that avatar is great!

But seriously, knowledge is power. Everyone is screaming "innovate, innovate" everywhere you go. One way to innovate is to listen to the unique challenges faced by individual site owners.

I've gotten many great ideas (or so I think) by listening to people bitch about things.

I'd think a lot of us spend more time in front of our computers than most. One way to unwind is to chat it up with other people in the industry. It is the same concept as the water cooler, but with everybody scattered across the globe, online works best.

One thing I've noticed on GFY -- high post counts mean absolutely nothing. In fact, I can't even tell who is legit over there. For me, it is more a source of entertainment.

I used to work for a guy who's management style was to hire other people to do everything. He'd come in at 11, visit each employee's desk to find out what they're doing, bark out some orders, then go to lunch. He'd gossip on the phone with all the other members of the "gay porn mafia" till about 3, then head home to "beat the traffic". From what I hear he's works the same way 10 years later.

It really bothered me that he didn't actually do any "work", but when you own the company, you can operate any way you like.
